Would data transfer rates to an external hard drive be faster if the Base Station had a FW800 port? Or would they be roughly the same as USB 2.0 because you're still bound by the wireless transfer rate? Sorry if this is a stupid question.

Right now the overhead of the Network Protocol-to file format-to USB processing is the bottleneck. Not sure if Firewire has lower processing overhead or not.
