Here's an interesting theory on Apple Watch charging. I'm not sure we'll see this on Gen 1. But then this report of a 4-5 hours empty to full charge from 9to5Mac would seem to make more sense. Looking forward to tomorrow. :)

This would be awesome and would totally get me to buy the Watch. Of course, I'm already going to buy the first generation, but if I could just keep it on my wrist at night and it would just automatically charge, it would be the perfect Smart Watch, But I agree, I don't think we will see this until the second or even third generation of Apple Watch.

Well we know it won't be on the first gen.

I think the article theorises that it would be in addition to their MagSafe-like charging rather than instead of it. I'd guess that the truly wireless charging mentioned would take a lot, lot longer.

It's a neat idea and would solve a lot of problems to do with sleep tracking etc, though will it happen? I highly, highly doubt it. About as much chance of this happening as Gruber's gold Milanese loop being announced...

I've been saying for a long time, that someone should sell an electric blanket that's designed for inductively charging anything near it. Heating optional.

That way, you (and your wife) could keep your watches on all night while they slowly charge up, as your arms lay over or under the blanket.
