I never gave much thought to weight as I normally wear a belt and suspenders so it does not matter to me. The thing is size of the phone bothers me as a larger screen means I am less able to pocket the phone. I just prefer the regular size and got a 14 Pro. I heard some say well it is easier for the elderly to see well why the heck do I wear bifocals for. I am 64 and my wife is ten + years older then me and she prefers even smaller screen size and has a 2022 iPhone SE and she has absolutely no problems seeing what she wants to see
My dad will be 84 this December and he loves his 2022 SE. He reads on it all the time, but can use his M1 MacBook Air when at home for a more visually-ergonomic experience.

Yes the weight is nice if you go directly from a Max to it but don't let that fool you. You're going to get used to either phone and the 14 Plus is priced ridiculously considering it's already $900 the Max is only $200 more

I've never heard of anyone needing to build strength in order to hold an iPhone Pro Max

But that said, I did try a Plus briefly and went with the 14 Pro after. Same weight but the Pro feels heavier because it's so dense. Again, in the long run it's not going to matter but there is a difference if you really care about it

My old note 20 with a case and a 6.9” screen weighs less than my 14 pro max. I thought that was going to be an issue and it was. For two days. Now I am used to it.

I agree I have the 14 Pro. It aint going to drag your pants down unless you are one to wear them "low rider drawers"😳

I checked, and it turns out that the Plus is 23 grams lighter than my phone and 37 grams lighter than the 14 Pro Max. That's around the same as the 8 Plus I used a few years back, which despite not feeling as well put together as the 11 Pro Max, definitely was much easier to carry around (easy in the sense of not being irritated by this dense object in my pocket and having to pull up my pants as they sag).

Of course you're pointing out the elephant in the room, the emperor with no clothes, the thing that everyone notices but few talk about: Apple has lost its mind with this constant weight increase, and most of the iPhones are simply too heavy (not to mention uncomfortable to hold now that square sides are back).

The 8 Plus was already too heavy. Anybody who "likes" carrying that thing in their pants is in denial.

All of Apple's plus/max phones since the 6 have been too heavy, and they just keep getting heavier and heavier. They're insane--they being both Apple and their heavy, fat forking phones.

Here's a leaked mockup of the iPhone 15:

Same here. What gets me is how unnecessary most of the weight is. Use an aluminium chassis and it wouldn’t be a problem. I fail to see what exactly stainless steel is adding to the experience other than making the device heavier than it need be.
Exactly.

That and it doesn’t look any better either considering it’s a fingerprint magnet.

And yes considering 99% of people throw a case on it, it really is such a pointless material.

Everyone is screaming titanium but that’s even more pointless because it’s going to be more expensive and hid as well.

The lightest, most comfortable phone to carry and hold was my old Blackberry. It was housed in plastic.

And great things were (1) you could remove the back cover and change the battery yourself, and (2) if you dropped it (which I did many times), it would just come apart, and you could snap it back together. Indestructible.

Completely agree about the standard pro being hilariously weight inefficient. Last year I tried a 13 Pro and a 13 Pro Max, I kept the 13 Pro Max as it felt better to me even though it's bigger/heavier. With the dimensions/weight of the 14 Pro / 14 Pro Max, both should feel better this year with the 14 Pro Max most likely having a better weight distribution. I've seen at least one post where somebody thought the 14 Pro Max felt lighter than their 13 Pro Max.
That’s a very interesting fact, which I’ve realized and got rid of my 13 Pro (regular) for a 14 Pro Max.

I’ve used every iPhone lately and here are my opinions: iPhone mini and SE are perfect weight and size for one hand. 14 Plus is good for two-handed use, since you are spreading the weight across two hands, but the Pro Max is just a little too top heavy for me due to the camera module. I actually get more “gamer thumb” using the standard 6.1” phones than anything else, because I try to use them one-handed and have short fingers. So my sweet spot is 13 mini vs 14 Plus. Unfortunately neither of those lines sold well, so who knows what I will have in a couple years. I have bought and returned so many phones this year and Mint hits me for $3 each time for a new eSIM. Oh well. Sticking with my 13 mini until the 15 comes out and will see what happens.

Hi all,

Something occurred to me while looking over the new iPhone 14 models, and I thought I'd get it down here before I forgot, just to see if I'm alone. That thing is weight. I already find my iPhone 11 Pro Max pretty brick-ish when it's in pocket, and the 13 Pro Max which I owned for a few months was noticeably more so. The difference in their weight is around 14 grams, but like I said, it's quite obvious.

I'm not sure that this is enough of a factor to keep me from the much improved cameras on the 14 Pro Max (not to mention last year's 120 Hz), but it's at least worth considering.

Are any of you in the same boat in terms of leaning towards the Plus over the Max due to weight?
Buy a belt.

I just went from a 14 PM to a 13 (non-Pro). Both size and weight were factors.

If you want a 6.7" screen I highly recommend the Plus over the PM. Yes AOD is great but still not worth the weight IMO. DI is cool but not ideal ergonomically unless you have large hands. I personally (literally) can't see the difference of 120Hz.

No. I have two iPhones (14 pro max) that I carry with me daily. They aren’t heavy. I don’t understand why several people think it’s heavy… weird. Heavy equals quality. Anything less like plastic will not last long and will break easily. I like my iPhone weight, I wouldn’t complain if it was heavier than it is now. Putting the iPhone in your pocket (front pocket I’m guessing) isn’t the best place. Back pocket or shirt pocket will collect way less lint. A co worker puts his green iPhone 13 Pro Max in his from pocket, it’s filthy!!! He doesn’t care. I have the 14 pro max for the cameras.

I’ve never understood this complaining about a phones weight. They weight mere Ounces

My 14 PM is heavier than the 11 Pro it replaced. I wanted a larger screen, so was expecting a heavier phone, which it is. I like the way it balances in my hand and have no problem fitting it in my pocket. I prefer the stainless steel frame for increased durability. Overall, the extra weight is not a deal breaker for me. To each their own.

Agreed.
To me, the physical dimensions are more important.
I have a 13 Pro that's bigger than the 13 mini that I was attracted to at first, but the screen wasn't big enough for my old eyes.
OTOH, the 13 Pro Max was too large for my carry logistics.
The weight didn't even enter into the decision at all.
I wouldn't mind if it was a bit lighter, but I wouldn't care if it was a little heavier either.
