Thanks to This is Spinal Tap, we all know there's a fine line between stupid and clever.

Comedian Steven Wright reminds us there's a fine line between fishing and just standing on the shore like an idiot.

And we know all too well after this past election that there's a fine line between redneck hockey mom and Vice President of the United States...

So - name some other things that there's a fine line between...

Love and hate.
Pleasure and pain.
The right hole and the no-no. :D

There's a fine line between a thread being potentially fascinating, and one that's maddeningly inscrutable.

T...there's a fine line between redneck hockey mom and Vice President of the United States...

Hate to be picky, but that's more of a Gulf, than a fine line.

Or maybe it's a Strait? Like, um, er, the "Bering Strait" (Берингов пролив) :D

Creativity and insanity

I find that these are strangely connected... almost like twins separated at birth.

Whiskey & Whisky (there is a one-way difference, actually)

I was going to add another one I've noticed personally, but methinks it would put it into the Issues forum...

Yea I don't get this one. There is a huge difference between beer and Canadian beer. Canadian beer is by far the best beer there is. :D

The difference is not so much between US and Canadian beer as it is between US beer and US beer. I mean, the idea that Budweiser, Blue Moon, Anchor Steam, and Bell's Two Hearted Ale are all quintessentially American beers tells the whole story.

Canadian beer, on this side of the border, in my experience is well regarded. Particularly in the Midwest, which I think has little to apologize in the way of its own beer anyways, so I'd take it as a compliment. :)

Agreed. Apologies. I miss Canadian beer. I crave Alexander Keith's Pale Ale.....

I misunderstood the point of the thread. I guess this comparison threw me off in the OP's original post:

For a country of your size, you sure have very little variety in terms of good beer readily available for mass consumption.

Nobody ever said that there isn't a single good beer made in America.
