Only works for so long though.

I wasn't going to buy airpods with a newer version coming soon. But I needed new headphones so I went with another brand.

And now I'm bored of the entire wireless charging concept completely. Why bother with the hassle of needing to put your devices in a specific location so you can trickle charge them overnight when dash charging can replenish them in the 30-40 minutes between waking up and leaving the house?

Either what they show was a sketch, or a prototype, which would be surprising for a publicly traded company, or they have encountered major issues.

Remember the iPhone 4 in white that was never released on time? That was finally ready at the time of the iPhone 4s release.
White iPhone 4 came out 6 months ahead of the iPhone 4S

<snip>
In past years, Apple has unveiled hardware, but this year's event was focused on software with the sole hardware product being a new Pride Apple Watch band.

<snip>

As was predicted, WWDC 2018 was entirely devoid of hardware with the exception of a single new Apple Watch band.
I don’t think I’d classify a watch band as hardware. Maybe the new 30W USB-C charger that was released could be called hardware, but even that’s kind of a stretch, if you ask me.

I think both would more typically be classified as accessories.

Sad about no airpower or Wireless AirPods... But thought this was one of the best WWDC's in years. Group FaceTime is going to be a revolutionary product for families and friends I think people underestimate the potential. Digital Health Features didn't disappoint. I got my podcasts app on watch and walkie talkie will be good to talk to the wife when she's upstairs changing a kid and im downstairs cooking dinner... Dark mode for Mac is great. Very happy. Apple please release apple news and Apple Pay cash in Canada please.....

Ok, Apple can STOP announcing vaporware a year in advance already! :(

And there was no HomePod feature updates to go along with iOS 12... best part of the keynote was the screen time monitoring and allowances...

Untrue, you did not pay attention...

It was announced in tandem with Qi charging being announced for the iPhone lineup. I’m sure Apple will go bankrupt because they lost your powermat sale.

It’s a software event, and the watch bands are seasonal for summer and pride. Why are you complaining that they didn’t announce this fall’s hardware early?
Last year they updated the entire Mac line (except Mini & Pro) and introduced the iMac Pro. To act like this is always a developer conference only ignores history. Given prior events, it was reasonable to expect hardware this time around, either Mac or accessories or whatever.

Announcing Apple Vapor Power. Available some time after 2017.
As an ARkit module (or charging-poo emoji)
Conceptually, ARkit seems the virtual answer to a merely empty product pipeline
Allowing Joni to make razor-thin designs that can live without buttons/ports/batteries etc.

You people need to calm your **** lol.

They said it was a sneak peak and would be available in 2018!

They likely did this because working with the Qi standard meant leaks.

Last I heard there is still 6 months left in the year.

Right. It works up to a point. Perhaps there was a technical or manufacturer issue.

Many if not almost most WWDC events introduce new notebooks. So let’s not pretend that doesn’t happen. There’s no early to it. There is precedent.
This is the real legitimate complaint. I’m happy they seem to be paying attention to macOS this year, but lack of Macbook and Macbook Pro updates is odd given that newer Intel hardware has been out for a while now.

And no one is man enough to stand up, say 'we are sorry, we thought we could make it happen bla'. Nothing.
Why don't they announce 24core ARM Macbooks with 128GB of RAM?
Sure might come out in ten years from now, but hey - at this point - who cares, right?

Why is this difficult for you?

Apple said: 2018

The most likely time during 2018: during iPhone launch.

2018 iPhone launch is in September.

Why is this so difficult for you?

I know I keep repeating myself, but I’m really disappointed in Apple for not even saying a single word about a possible release time-frame for AirPower and the wireless charging case for the AirPods. Personally, I couldn’t care less about the mat, but I’m really interested in the case.

Yeah, they said 2018 and I’ve got nothing against teasing a completely new product or product-overhaul like the Mac Pro, the Apple Watch or the new software we saw yesterday, bringing iOS-apps to Mac in some capacity.
These launches take a lot of time and showing them in early stages builds excitement.

But for crying out loud, AirPower is an accesssory – the wireless charging case an accessory to an accessory!
This can’t be that hard to do!
And if you remember correctly and look up those videos of journalists in last September’s keynote hands-on-area, there were several working cases and mats laying around. So they can do it and they did it. Just why are they not released?
If Apple actually said something – or any of those journalists dared to asked in interviews – we’d at least know where we stand.

If I remember correctly, Tim Cook said in a memo regarding those leaks lately that Apple only has one chance to wow its customers when they first see and experience a new Apple product. I do think that’s true. But seeing a new product teased and not getting to experience it for another year, let alone hear about it from Apple, kills all the excitement and the wow-factor along the way.

It’s just so sad and heightens the disappointment.
Best regards,
VSG
