Apple has a long list of devices that it plans to launch during the first half of 2026, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman said today. Apple is working on an iPhone 17e, along with several Macs and iPads.

Here's what's in the works for 2026:
  • iPhone 17e - Updated A19 chip, could launch in February.
  • MacBook Air - M5 chips.
  • MacBook Pro - M5 chips.
  • Updated Apple Display - A follow up to the Apple Studio Display and Pro Display XDR.
  • Low-cost iPad - Will get a faster chip. Slated for March/April.
  • iPad Air - Expected to get M4 chip. March/April launch timeline.
  • Smart home hub - Expected in the first half of next year.
Later this year, Apple plans to launch new iPhone 17 models, new versions of the Apple Watch, Apple Watch Ultra, and Apple Watch SE, and new iPad Pro models.

So now the M5 macs are slipping from October to 2026? Is Gurman THAT reliable? I mean… it will feel weird having a holiday season without M5 Macs (except the MBA, which usually comes later).

Can't read the Bloomberg article without a subscription.
I want an iPad and the current version is a low enough priced device already, even at full price.
I think making the iPad better is more RAM and base storage, before just putting a faster chip inside.

If the 17e gets the A19 chip the base iphone 17 better get it as well and not stay on A18

So the display is either gonna be the successor to the Pro Display XDR or to the Studio Display, but not to both.
If it will have 120Hz and MiniLED, they might go for 27”, as a 32” with those features (plus a webcam, loudspeakers,..?) would position the price point so high that it would turn into a low volume niche product. Even though I would prefer it to be 32” as my Studio Display is a bit too small for me.

Give MBA one of each port MBP has, except Thunderbolt 5, keep it Thunderbolt 4 and put one on each side. Keep the Pro chonky (to keep it visually distinct from the Air) and improve it with more power and more upgradability, and EOL any model of MBP with less than a pro chip.

Release a real iMac, a large one, with more ports than MBP, and make it thicker than the 24” toy iMac, with better speakers, better cooling, and internal ethernet.

Bring Mac laptop display sizes into harmony by having a small 13” Air, a big 16.2” Pro, and the same new 14.5” size for mid models with thin bezels for both lines. Having different size mid models (13.6” and 15.3”) needlessly complicates and frustrates the buying of a mid size Mac laptop. The decision should be, do I need the best speakers, the most power, and multiple Thunderbolt 5 ports, or do I want a thin and light everyday useful machine with decent port variety, if shopping for mid size.

Release a slightly thicker, slightly bigger 5.6” iPhone with modern battery chemistry and drop the “mini” naming.

Kill iPad Air, and fix the mess that is the increasingly unfocused iPhone line: iPhone, iPhone Ultra, Apple Fold.

End of lesson.

So the iPad Air will have gotten TWO updates before the iPad Pros? 🤔 I doubt that Apple will give the iPad Air an M4 before the iPad Pros get an M5. Unless Apple updates the iPad Pros in the Fall of 2025 first.

Some rumors said this was possible. It happened with the iPhone 14 (got same as iPhone 13).
We may have lucked out for the iphone 15/16 just because Apple needed more oomph for AI.
I do think an updated chassis for the 17e is on the cards. Or I hope it is.

The mid range market for android is looking great - and everyone already has a gmail account.

Long gone are the days when apple could keep on selling a 10 year old form factor & get away with it.

If Apple gives 17e two rear lenses, it goes up against iPhone 17 Air and 17 base. Same with Dynamic Island. Maybe Apple will consider adding MagSafe and UWB, but chassis or form factor changes are unlikely.

The 16e/17e is competitive enough in features. It's the pricing that could be cut by $50.

That was awhile ago and when they split the lines to use different chips.

I would say we’ll see A19 and A19 Pro chips this year, as previous years.

Might be interested in MacBook Pro M5, but that depends on how hobbled it is. Really expecting that my laptops are moving to Linux where security is my responsibility and not Apple's nanny fake rules.
Whatever you consider to be Apple’s “nanny fake rules”, you must know by now that the underpinnings of macOS aren’t going to drastically change, so you’re out of luck there. If Linux works for you, stick with Linux and don’t even bother with the Mac.

To bad we have not heard any credible rumors about a larger iMac. I remember Apple said they were not going to make another 27 inch iMac, which was very specific wording I thought. I’m hopeful they come out with a 31 or 32 inch model in the next year or so.

When are we getting a new Apple TV? That’s all I’m currently waiting on
Yeah I'm not sure what's going on there. MacRumors has been saying that a new Apple TV is "about to release" for months, yet the timeline keeps changing with nothing concrete. Even this article has it in the image yet there's no mention of it.
