These snaps found on most jean pockets can scratch your screen as you're taking your phone in and out. Be careful!

Sucks for someone who is OCD about keeping their electronics in mint condition to have these things that you're not even really think about come up and bite you in the ass. Hell on my 4s I even had a grain of sand (even though I don't go to the beach?) in my pocket and it caused the glass screen to scratch.

It might sound weird but I actually like the look and feel of matte screen protectors

My slim jeans don't have those in a place like yours where I need to be concerned.. I go naked with my Iphone so I am being extra careful with my precious.

I wear jeans almost every day, and I keep my phone in my front pocket. I have never scratched a screen from these. In fact, going back to the 3GS (I've owned every iPhone since then), I have only scratched one screen, and it was that 3GS, and it was a tiny 3mm scratch. I have never used a screen protector.

Unless your snaps are sharp due to abrasion or such, I just can't see scratching these tough screens on a rounded nub. Even keys don't tend to scratch gorilla glass screens. (My wife keeps hers in her purse without a protector and it gets bumped up against all sorts of stuff, including keys, and her screens aren't scratched either.

Keys cannot scratch the back of the iPhone? I would be be putting my iphone in a pocket that has keys or coins for that matter.

If someone gets their screen scratched because of that, your phone is probably the last thing you should think about.

Luckily my Levis don't have these on the left pocket where my phone goes, but on my right pocket they are there.

It's possible your snaps are smooth enough that all is fine. Some are not completely smooth and scratch the screen.

Who said anything about the back? Of course keys can scratch the back...this is about the screen. It's very hard for a typical key to scratch an iPhone screen.

Unless it's a really tight jeans, there's no reason why they should come into contact when sliding in and out of pocket.

I put my 4s in my front pocket all the time.. why? because I don't care who thinks it looks stupid? naw, because it frees my hands, is handy to pull out and use, and I don't carry a purse. Kind of doubt I'll put the plus in my pocket.. but it just makes me laugh when people don't do something just because someone else thinks it's looks stupid.. duh.. who cares what other people think?! ;)

The grime/sand/dirt in your pockets can also do the same

That's why when using my front pocket I use the left one. For back pocket I can use either, but I prefer the left to keep things consistent.

I never really thought of this but I put my phone in my left front pocket anyway.
