A disgusting display of conspicuous consumption in a world so full of opportunities to alleviate poverty and hunger. Shame on AustinJerry.

I love the Marble Black. If phones weren’t disposable with yearly updates, I’d consider one.

That isn’t true. I know plenty of people that treat $10,000 like $1000, some even $100, because they can, and one thing they certainly don’t lack is sense.

I have nothing against rich people who do something productive for themselves with their riches, or I could understand even put it away for their kids. But if you're spending $10,000 on a phone casing for a phone you're going to get rid of in 2-3 years, just because you're lucky enough have a ton of money, then I think you probably could find a better use for your money that isn't a complete waste to you and society.

I’m not sure if these expensive custom iPhones have much nutritional value.

However if they don’t eat the iPhones, but instead decorate to sell the devices, they’ll have plenty to eat.

Give a man an iPhone and he will eat a meal. Teach a man to decorate an iPhone and he’ll eat a custom decorated iPhone, or maybe sell it and buy food.

Apparently on Macrumors the lack of money doesn’t create class either. Most the the negative comments Drip jealousy to me.
I'd be curious which comment before yours sounded particularly jealous? It seems you may have come to this discussion with a particular world view and you've overlaid that on what you're seeing.

That's not to say you're wrong. It's entirely possible that the reason why people are making snide remarks about wrapping their disposable technology in a $4000 carbon fiber skeleton shell with glowing eyes could be because all their buddies passed the hedge fund interview while they can only afford the $1200 base phone on their meager upper middle class salary...

I suspect, though, that it's more likely because those housings are just ugly. Or at least the pictures are. The marble sounded like a cool concept to me, but the picture, and the glowing apple, turned me off.

I guess that’s the judgy, neo-Puritan viewpoint.

You’re really going with:
“Oh hear me lord, your noble martyr, blessed are the buzzkills”?

The hypocritcal pretensciouness alone, always kills that argument in the crib.

But it’s your assessment of what constitutes a benefit to society, and your overconfidence that you could even recognize such, that is the real intellectual and moral rot plaguing these kinds of sweeping socialist viewpoints.

That skeleton made me think:

“Avatar! Know that Britannia has entered into a new age of enlightenment! Know that the time has finally come for the one true Lord of Britannia to take His place at the head of His people! Under my guidance, Britannia will flourish. And all the people shall rejoice and pay homage to their new... Guardian! Know that you, too, shall kneel before me, Avatar. You, too, shall soon acknowledge my authority - for I shall be your companion... your provider... and your master!”

Love the Ultima VII reference! When you set your alarm on that model of the iPhone, it'd be cool if it said:

"Yes my friend, rest and heal, so that you are strong and able to face the perils before you. Pleasant dreams."

Money can't buy class... that's for sure

So u know bout class dud? People who uses a walmart’s $4.98 case knows more than thiz world famous French premium company? These guys gives u top notch materials like a 10k + taxes black marvel or even pure real gold and diamonds. I see many guys crying here and there n i call that plain jealousy and envy, yes. Next week I gonna buy one of these at Harrods. You know what and where Harrods is? —Brompton Road in Knightsbridge, London— And I want it no 4 me but for my brother Mario. Yes im very generous and altruist with my people yes. I’m paying the British airlines ticket and everything cause my brother wants the skeleton model which is very elegant and cool and all females will c how wealthy n sophisticated he is with a very expensive case like that so im going to buy it 4 him and i don’t case 4 the price. I prefer the real alligator leather version. That will deeply impress all gurls i know with mine. At the end of the day, with all these babes interested in my bucks so the case pays itself. U know what i mean? Money buys everything bro, including class.

The people that are complaining here definitely don't understand the luxury world. These are for the same people that were buying the gold Apple Watch just because they can. I'm sure poor people could say the same to you all for even having an iPhone X...there's no excuse for that except that you like nice things. Come over to China where I live, some of you will be disgusted by the money that is tossed around.

There was a story here where a guy broke up with his girlfriend and gave her a suitcase with 300 grand for the trouble. She was so upset with him and his lowball attempt to give her "only" 300k that she just left the suitcase at the bar they met at. When later the bar owner and police tracked down the guy who brought it, he said: "yah, I mean, it's only 300k...is that a lot or something? what's the big deal?"
This is who that product is for.

If I had $10,000 to throw away on one of these things...I would just go caseless, and buy a new iPhone if I damaged it. It’s actually a shame to put a case on the iPhone X. Unfortunately, it’s necessary.
Not at all necessary.

The sapphire one would be nice if it’s scratch proof. Then no case would be required.

Contrary to popular perception, sapphire vs. glass would just up the scratch resistance. However, it's more prone to shattering in a drop.

Even a case/shell made of diamond would be the same: even better (than sapphire) for scratch resistance and even MORE prone to shattering in a drop.

I will buy one skeleton one please. Only if you can customize it to look like skeletor and my ringtone is his laugh.

Still don't think smartphones are toys? Sophisticated toys, but toys nonetheless. This pretty much proves it.

The same sort of people who buy Rolexes with jewels on the casing, buy these too, I suspect.

Talking of which, I wonder, how long it’ll be before this company also offers a ‘bling’ service for Apple Watch?

Cool story bro. Sooo which $10000 case do you think is the real benefit to society? The skeleton one? Or the gold-plated one?
