Apple is likely not gonna drop the prices any time soon. Not until they have recouped some serious about of ROI on the RD that went into development. I personally am seeing a price drop/value even for Rev C or D. By 2019/2020, we are looking at another revision again. Which means, possibly more price hikes again.

For many, the best option is possibly going for an older cheaper 2015 or refurbished 2016 while they are still available. You will have the pull the trigger on the 2016 models while stocks last; since those are likely not going be available anymore.

It hasn't moved that much, and like I said, the iPad prices are unchanged.

1) The appeal of the Macbook for me is not price, but significantly lower weight and smaller form factor.
2) And it's not really an apples-to-apples comparrasion; while both machines are plenty fast enough for my use (thus my preference of the 12" Macbook) the 128gb storage of the cheapest MBP is a dealbreaker. I would have to go with at least 256gb, making the 12" Macbook still cheaper.

I don't see the 12 being much more portable than the 13" MacBook Pro. I'm mean, are we talking 1/2" in either dimension at most, and a few mm in thickness?

When I made my original comment, I didn't realize the storage on the entry level MbP was only 128gb. So that gives the MacBook a little more "in" with some folks I'm sure.
