1. Let’s not forget the completely unnecessary marketing jargon in that keynote, like the one for the new display.
2. Also, he said ‘Pro’ a million times, just felt a bit much.
3. The use of the term ‘Pro’ itself isn’t warranted in my view - a smartphone is a consumer device, absolutely nothing Pro about it.
4. To price discriminate by creating an artificial dichotomy by segregating basic features such as fast charging is just pathetic.

I agree with all you said especially 3. But I guess Apple is creating a new tier here, one that is aimed for those people who feel “pro” I guess
Not that big. As you can see on the web 1 min 4k60fps is 400 MB. Apple says in camera settings.
Weird, my phone is doing 800MB -1GB. Maybe new codec?
If he continues the only thing i see him doing is losing the goodwill apple built up and is still riding on.
People have been claiming apples penny pushing ways will eventually bite them in the end, no one believes it, and its taking a while but it will happen eventually.
Before you could justify certain things like paying a premium on design while the internals were terrible, or that the IOS was more sturdy, and a better quality product but not anymore.
The value for this "apple tax" is practically nonexistent in most cases. So people are paying a much higher premium for the logo on the back of the phone most of the time and that is not good for apple's future.
That’s the actual problem here. I couldn’t care less whether Apple has 2 or 5 times the profit margins of their competition, as long as they deliver quality. For the most part they are still fine, but stuff like using cheap plastic bolts on an iMac Pro stand, which even their own employees are incapable off replacing once they break... that’s not acceptable.
That being said, sticking with 64GB as a base is really kind of a spit in the face. I'd rather have them move to 256GB and force the more expensive price on the customer. Instead, they put this responsibility upon you, making yourself the only one to blame to spend that amount of money. Wish Apple wouldn’t take use of such cheap sales strategies...
The U.S economy is strong, and low to middle class sections of the country are making a little bit of money, and those are the types of people that end up getting fooled by corporations/executives/ the rich in spending more money when they don't need to.
There is almost 0 compelling reason to upgrade to a new phone for anyone that has anything better than an Iphone 8. Like, are your pictures REALLY going to be that more amazing from the 8 to the 11 pro? I mean, they'll be better but what is that really going to do for you in the end? Nothing.
Worse, the people that upgrade from something like the X to this one is literally just throwing money into the trash can. So what does apple do? they recognize how people are and then take advantage of them with things like putting only 64gb of memory into a $1000 "PRO" device.
It is despicable, really. But hey people fall for it.
They have to keep it at 64 so that they next year, they can boast that they are generous enough to offer 128 as base GB.

For the Pro model it's stupid, i agree. Should have done 128 / 256 / 512 GB. But yeah, they will sell plenty of 64 GB models (they also sold a lot of 64 GB Xs and Xs Max, and those had the same prices.) But this year they market their new phone as "Pro", with a triple camera and a lot of new camera features, and then they only do 64 GBs. 4K 60fps with every camera including the front facing one and only 64 GBs.
Also going from 64 GB to 256 GB is a huge jump and that's increasing the price by 150 $.
For the regular iPhone 11 it's fine though. They have 64 GB as the base and then there's 128 and 256 GBs.
64 GB or 128 GB seems to be the sweetspot these days. No one wants 32 GB anymore (last offered with the iPhone 7) and a lot of people are fine with 64 GB. Some want or need 128 GB, but that's 50 $ to go from 64 GB to 128 GB on iPhone 11 and also the on Xr and 8.
256 GB is actually seen overkill by many, the other day i heard "Who needs 256 GBs?" from a potential customer at the Apple Store. I was standing next to them at the demo units and i couldn't overhear it.
But those people aren't going for the Pro model anyways.
I personally love my 256 GB model and i will not go back to 128 or even 64. I never have to worry about storage again.

Right, again Apple knows this. They know 90% of their customer base does not need a phone this strong, with these types of capabilities. So what do they do? They stick 64gb in it.
Which is still shocking, some one actually taking photos with their phones will eat up 64gb pretty quickly. Apps alone + music+ a few podcasts+ a few photos will run through 32gb of memory in a month or two.
How is 64gb with a phone with this type of camera even remotely acceptable for people? even your average user? its not. The number 1 complaint i've seen from people with iphones is that they run out of space.
I never hear anyone with an iphone 7 or more say "man my pictures look like crap" it's mostly "i have no more space, i have to delete stuff"
In the end we are to blame for what apple gets away with.
32 GB isn't enough anymore. I agree on that. Yes, they should do 128 GB for every model. But i mean, Apple is Apple and we still have to buy the fast chargers because that's still not included (except for 11 Pro) and the headphone jack dongle also got removed from the box etc...
But as long the 128 GB is only 50 bucks more than the 64 GB base one, i am ok with it. But it took years before 64 GB became the base model. They had 16 GB and 32 GB for such a long time.
iPhone 6s still came in at 16 GBs (!), iPhone 7 with 32 GBs. This strategy is common with Apple and it's called upselling. They want the extra 100 $ at all cost. 16/32/64 became 16/64/128 and then 32/128/256... and it's only done so customers shell out the extra 100 $ for the larger capacity.
But since they now offer 64 GB on all models in the line-up, i am ok with it. Not all people shoot photos every day or take 4K video. If you stream your music with Apple Music / Spotify and/or use iCloud Photos, and you only play casual games or no games at all, i think 64 GB is acceptable. A lot of stuff can be offloaded and streamed these days.
And for phone calls, texting, a bit of YouTube/Netflix etc... 64 GB is fine. Again, for photos / videos you definitely want 128 GB.
32 GB however is something no one can live with anymore, even with minimal data usage. I am so glad Apple got rid of that. Well, except on the entry-level iPad. The 10.2" just got revealed and i can't believe they only updated the screen. It still has the A10, it still comes with 32 or 128 GB. I hoped for 64 / 256 GB and the A12.
It's brilliant marketing by Apple. People see the 64GB, don't like it and pay more for the 256GB model. More profit for Apple.
Will not be susprised if apple decided to keep 64gb for 2020 iPhones.
They know 64gb is not quite enough so most will step up.

Every iPhone model has been built to push the consumer to the middle tier of storage. The lowest storage models have always been just a little to small for the average user. It would be a bad business decision on Apple's part to offer a 128gb entry level. Most consumers would purchase that option.
Exactly. While Apple is increasing the sizes with (almost) every model, they never have the right option for the customer. Well, unless you opt for the higher storage tier.
Well they have just that on the 8, Xr and 11. 64 GB is base and for 50 $ you'll get 128. You just don't get that for the Pro. But most Pro customers will still go with 256 or 512. Again 128 should have been the base model Pro...

Apple makes money off storage upgrades, that’s why they have them tactfully priced the way they do. Now, I personally don’t need 128 GB of storage, I can survive on 64 GB, maybe even 32 GB. But my point is, for those who want a higher storage, you simply have to pay for it, that’s the tech world that we live in, it’s not just Apple either.
