It seems many here are always asking for a flush mount camera on the back. Others seem to like thin as can be iPhones. So which would you prefer?

Flush mount camera - slightly thicker iPhone which means it's heavier but probably has a bigger battery as well

    or

Thin as can be iPhone - camera bump and smaller battery but very slick and thin design.

If no one knows how I voted in this poll they haven't been paying any attention around here. :)

At this point in time, nearly all smartphones are thin enough that I personally wouldn’t mind them being a bit thicker and have no bumps. I mean thin phones are a placebo anyway when people are putting them in cases or battery cases.

But I doubt we’ll go there. Why? Ive.

Consumers want more battery life, period. The trade off would be a thicker phone, but that means having extended battery life with their phones, I don’t think a thicker phone would be _that_ much of an issue for the average consumer. [Not to mention, the majority already added cases to a phone, which inevitably makes it thicker as it is.]

So far most want thicker. I see lots of people here always complaining about the thickness and heft of the XR so it's a bit surprising. But I guess if the XR didn't have the camera bump maybe people wouldn't complain as much?

I’ll take a thicker iphone with a flush camera and bigger battery any day!!!!!! Just like the iphone 4/5 days...apply a front and back protectors and call it a day. No need to use a case to keep the phone from resting/rocking on the back camera.

Imo that's not entirely true. Consumers might need more battery life, but they don't know they want it. General consumers want a sexy looking device so they can show it off to their friends, thus the race of being thinner has been in the consumer electronics space even before iPhone (Moto RAZR?). Sony made their CD walkman so thin that the battery has to be attached externally like a dongle. That's just the way it is, thinner sleeker looking device made that first impression for the general consumers.

Luckily, I believe we are at the point of "thin enough" that slightly thicker designs won't hurt, as shown by the X/XS/XR being thicker than previous iPhones. The only remaining factor/bottleneck is... Jonny Ive.

I would gladly accept a thicker phone with no camera bump IF...and I mean IF that extra space was used to enlarge the battery.

I think...and I have been wrong more than once...that at some point we will find a point of diminishing returns with power increases and thinness. Eventually, we will run into an issue like we see with the 2018 MacBooks and throttling. Or, severely limited battery capacities. Neither one of those things I want.
