Initially after installing iOS 27 I liked the added distinctiveness of the icons, and other elements, but now I find myself getting irritated by the thin black lines around just about everything. It feels like an old cell-shaded video game!

Is it just me, or are other starting to get annoyed by the thin black lines around everything in this beta?

Where are you seeing these lines? And did you mean iOS 27?

I agree, there is a large center-shading missing from all iOS buttons which breaks the “lickable” (their words) look they’re going for. The upper buttons are iOS, the lower buttons are MacOS. Apologies for the low-res MasOS buttons I pulled from a hands-on review as my laptop is still on Sequoia.

That missing shading on iOS is making the buttons looks flat and oblong instead of 3D “glass”. The dark left and right edges look like gaps instead of glass edges on iOS. If you get black text directly behind a floating iOS button, you'll see the shading issue improve. I hope they fix this by September.

Also, not every iOS 27 UI component seems to be built the same.

When people said LG looked like Aqua, I never quite saw it, until now. Those buttons really do look 3D, like bubbles.

I like borders around UI elements, I think it makes it much clearer what's a button versus just text labels. But I do see why these black borders look a bit odd, they're thinner on the top and bottom.

do you have "show borders" switched on?.. you find it in Accessibility/display & text size/show borders
