Thin blue line on iMac screen

A thin blue line has just appeared on the screen...really obvious on black or dark backgrounds. Can this be fixed? Thanks......

Sounds like this might be a graphics card issue. Does it show up in screenshots?

I noticed it in a screen saver; since then, the line appears all the time. Of course, on a black screen, it's pretty obvious.

If you take a screenshot, does the image display the line as well, or is it clean?

Press command+shift+3. The image should appear as a file called "Picture 1" or "Picture 1.png" on your desktop.

I took the screenshot and it's clean...no line.

Does the blue line show up when your computer is booting up, like at the Apple logo screen?

Yes, it's very obvious while booting up.

Does it show up if you boot to another drive as well, like your computer's install disks?

I haven't tried that yet....is a graphics card replaceable?

On the iMac, I believe so. On further reflection, the blue line sounds more like a display than graphics card issue. Is it still in warranty?

No, it's no longer under warranty. If necessary, there are good places to repair Macs in NYC.....thanks...

That happen to my imac g5...it started out this thin yellowish line *vertical* on my screen. When I took a screen shot it can out clean. Went to take a look at it, it was the screen..Had to replace it *not under warranty anymore* My mom nearly payed $600 to fix..It was heart breaking..

Thanks for your feedback; luckily, my warranty is good for another four months...it is heartbreaking to pay so much for a repair.....
