I know this is not likely to happen in the near future, but I want the watch to have its own cellular connection. I hate taking my phone with me when I just go walking in the neighborhood.

Lets be honest, we all just want to be Dick Tracy :D (For you young whippersnappers, google it ;))

No Dick Tracy for me, as I can't hear the other side on the tiny watch speaker. But I might make calls using Bluetooth earphones, or more likely, just use text.

So I'm watching Wimbledon and asked Siri to show me info on Novak Djokovic and she came back with "Novak joke of a bitch". If Siri only knew the joke was on her. I rest my case on Siri.

LOL. Yesterday, I decided to give Siri another go. I asked it (on my watch) to "find Starbucks." It showed me a picture of a cigar box.

In fact, seeing how Siri would mangle my speech is always good for a laugh.

BTW, our nickname for Djokovic is the Djoker, so Siri thinks like us. ;)

Because she has trouble with a difficult name?

Let's be honest (and I'm not claiming this is your case) - some people can simply be difficult to understand.

For a piece of technology to somehow fix what biology itself has trouble with, isn't going to happen that easily.

I'm sure a good fraction complaining about Siri are from people who may not pronounciate appropriately - or are trying to test Siri with difficult names.

It's a watch with limited Siri functionality.

I mainly use it for driving directions or asking weather or dictation for text messages - and I find it to work surprisingly well.

Seeing as how google voice recognition had no problem and Siri is 0 for 10 tries I would say that's a problem. This isn't an isolated incident either. Don't get me wrong Google isn't perfect just significantly better.

Whenever someone dares to badmouth Siri on here, someone inevitably insinuates it's a pronunciation issue. IMHO Apple needs to do better. Siri has been spotty at voice recognition since day 1. Google voice recognition if FAR superior. If Siri was 80% as good at voice recognition as Google, I'd use it all the time.

Rather than focusing on stupid jokes and parlor tricks, I'd like to see Apple really tighten up Siri's functionality. It's been how many years now?

At the risk of jumping into the defence of Siri. I have a particularly broad, low and deep Scottish accent and I am honestly amazed at how well Siri works for me these days.

Back when Siri was first released and for a very long time after, I didn't use it at all, it was completely hopeless. But Apple have clearly been working to improve the performance of Siri and now I'm really impressed with the accuracy. Which I have no doubt they will keep improving on.

She's not perfect by any means (and I very much doubt any recognition system will be 100% for every language and dialect,) but I do get a chuckle now and then with some of the responses she comes up with when she detects the wrong words.

I have a deep radio voice with no discernable accent. Siri is absolutely awesome for me. I don't understand any of the complaints.

Well if it works for you they might as well hang the 'Mission Accomplished' banner and move on to bigger and better things.

You mentioned apps like SkyWalk (or StarWalk); I'm curious - what exactly would you want/expect a companion Watch app to be able to do, relative to the main app itself?

The AppleWatch does not have a compass but it could communicate with the iPhone which does.

But they may not be pointed the same way, if, for example, you keep the phone in your bag, and you are turning this way and that to look at the stars.
