It isn't often I find myself literally laughing out loud at a post. For whatever reason, this one did it. Thanks! :D

I stole that quote from a source I'm sure somebody will identify (no Googling now, I want to see who already knows it).

I also stole this one from my favorite math professor, Tom Lehrer:
I'm sure we all agree that we ought to love one another, and I know there are people in the world who do not love their fellow human beings - and I hate people like that!

I couldn't be arsed to go through this thread to see if this has been mentioned... but what really irks me, are people that when at a cash point proceed to use several cards, it's almost like... put the first card in, beep, beep, beep... oh... not enough money in there, I'll try my second card... beep, beep, beep... oh... not enough money in there, I'll try my third card... beep, beep, beep... oh... not enough money in there, I'll try my fourth card... etc etc etc. meanwhile the queue is behind them is getting longer, and longer and longer.

That should be banned... ;)

That would include people like Martha Stewart and

i know that martha speaks in fragments and often does not finish sentences

then i heard while she was in prison, she had no problem finishing her job cleaning toilets and the bathrooms

but then instead of complaining, she felt "proud" of being there, doing chores, making friends in the prison, and somehow, she won me over...she said the punishment transformed her

if there ever was a chance for her to complain, it was about the prison sentence and what she did there...but she seemed to take it in stride and didn't appeal immediately as she had the right to and served her sentence early

god, i wish nixon had thought that way ;) ...and speaking about presidents, i remember the bumper sticker that says: "George W. Bush...from the White House to the Big House" :)

i saw "mischief" before i even joined macrumors, and "vniow" lives nearby one city over from mischief

but look at all the people on this forum through the years from london...it must number in the hundreds

and with a very good tube (subway and/or L) system, they can meet, in most cases, in less than an hour

but randomly running into somebody, striking up a conversation, and then finding out you are both regulars at macrumors, seems pretty remote

I'd agree except as a 9 year DC area resident I can tell you that @ least 1/month I run into someone I've not seen in years. ~It's a small world, after all~(ducks the hail of gunfire)

that's quite a lot, but it could be due to the fact you live in a big city where there are lots of jobs...and that keeps people there

in my small town of almost a couple thousand, people who leave here often stay away for long periods of time, due to better work/pay, and go to big cities...like dc and others

i would say that i may see one or two peole a year that i can claim that i haven't seen in years...most people i see, i see at least once a month

age could also be a factor, too since i am middle aged and at least for people i grew up with who are my age or older, i suspect that over the next twenty or more years, many will pass away...in my 20s and 30s, if i heard of someone my age who died, it was either due to a car/motorcyle accident or drugs

as one goes through their 40s and 50s, cancer/heart disease/diabetes/stroke become far more likely than accidents or drugs...and in one's 60s and 70s, it's probably all people hear about...i wouldn't suspect a drug overdose of someone in their 60s unless it was a member of a certain british rock band or two ;)

i once saw a great tv documentary on senior citizen dating (age 70 and older) and it was hard for the women because at that age, they outnumbered the men 4 to 1 since so many of the men had already died

Ooh...that was a good one;)
don't supress the smart-ass within...it's bad for your health...that and I like smart-asses!
I want to quote a lot of you because I agree with much that has been posted on this thread. But what really makes MY blood boil? Negativity. Those people who have to throw doom and gloom on everything. And no, I'm not talking about people who are depressed or whatnot. But people who feel it is their god-given right to piss on everything, no matter how trivial the matter. Not to say I don't like a difference of opinion, life would be pretty boring without it. The world has enough bad crap in it without people adding to it with their self-righteous hogwash.

Jefhatfield,

Point conceded. Sure it's b/c DC (and others) are big cities. It's also b/c the DC area has the highest residency turnover rate in the States, that's mostly the nature of elections and having 5 major universites in the same 30 mile area.

And that elderly women's dating situation is pretty gutting. But take heart. I've worked in Public Affairs (mostly medical issues) & middle-aged people are in better health than ever in our history. My generation (20 - 30 somethings) is the one screwed by obesity. So statistically, your fairly safe.

Live long, and Prosper. Nanoo, Nanoo.
