I ordered the new 15" with high resolution and kept the glossy screen. I am waiting for delivery and worried that I got the wrong screen because I will want to work outside occasionally.

If I don't open the package can I exchange this at the Apple store or am I stuck?

Has anyone used one of those non-glare films or have a rec about one?

Thanks very much.

If you ordered it from online store, you have to return it there i.e. ship it (Apple pays it AFAIK). If you open it, Apple will charge you 10-15% restocking fee, but if it's sealed they won't

you can return even a CTO. That's what I did last week, payed 0€ and got my money back today.

I wonder if this is only in the UK. Their return policy clearly states that CTO machines cannot be returned unless DOA.

I'm located in Germany.

You can return CTO machines in the United States as well. Just be sure to contact them before sending it back; the other way is just refuse the package.

^ But their return policy says differently, that's all I'm saying.

From the US Store Sale & Refund Policy:
Personalized iPods (e.g., engraved or customized in any way) may not be returned for refund or exchange under any circumstances unless such product is Dead on Arrival

I don't think an engraved iPod is the same as a CTO MBP.

The OP should give Apple a call but I think there will be no problem.

You can return the mbp if its unopened with a restocking fee of $0. If you happen to break the seal, they'll destroy you with a 10-15% restocking fee.

-Personal experience from the USA

Just citing my experience. Up until my Mac Mini every machine I had was CTO. It was made very clear to me. I'm not saying it won't be exchanged but their policy, if read in full, is pretty clear.

I'm sure I read somewhere that they recently changed that so you can return CTO machines.

In EU you can return (you must have right to) any device that was bought from internet i.e. something you didn't see before buying. Applies to BTOs and no restocking fees either in EU.

In US and Canada it might be different as month or so ago a guy from Canada called Apple and asked about it and they don't accept any BTOs unless it's defective (he was thinking of upgrading something).

So as said above, it depends on country and its policies, may even depend on rep you're dealing with
