Because I tend to be meticulous about some things I fervently recorded all information about the iPhone I was about to ship and the place to where I would be shipping it, the tracking info all along the way..... Only after I received a text from AT&T informing me that they had received my iPhone (something like 3 1/2, maybe even four weeks after I had initially handed it in at the PO) and that it was in the condition described (very good!) and that I didn't need to do anything further did I finally relax,.....but even at that it took another two or three days before I finally threw away the relevant paperwork, which included the receipt from the PO the day that I shipped it back, the tracking info throughout several days and weeks......

I can tell you all right now, I'm never going through that again! When the time comes for my iPhone X this time next year and I want to go ahead and buy whatever the next iteration is, fine, I am going to pay off my iPhone X so that I don't have to go through the nail biting angst that I did this time. I'll deal with selling it on my own or whatever later...... And I didn't even have a bad experience such as you did!

As I mentioned earlier, the website to which I was referred to check the tracking was newgistics.com. There was a place on there to click the link to Track My Item or some such. I simply put in the tracking number which I had and the progress of the package showed up, but it seemed as though the progress of my package across country was amazingly slow...... I did make allowances for the fact that I was shipping this item right at the beginning of the holiday season shipping rush. Not sure now but from what I recall, as I went along I think I was able to see the entire tracking record of my package even towards the end of the journey, so if you can check that you might be able to document your shipment all the way right from your local PO to the AT&T warehouse. After that, well, since they lost the package, it's really their responsibility to make good, isn't it?

Usually the local news have people that will field consumer complaints. I would give that a shot. Sometimes bad publicity is all it takes to revolve it.

Now I find out you can just take the phone to a att store. I don’t think the instructions say that.

I did the usual yearly iPhone exchange on the new release I get the phone on Friday and on Monday I think it was the 21st of sep I mailed off the wife and I's phone using the att supplied label I dropped them directly off to the post office. took a week before it even showed at the post office got them and after two weeks or so my wife gets a text saying her phone was accepted but not mine. I called after a couple weeks they say it was received and they will text me only for my wife to get it for her phone. I call and give them the tracking number they say wait. well on nov 1st I get a text saying they are charging me the full cost of the phone 949.00 I called gave them the tracking number and they see it shows it has not arrived. so they say they will do a warehouse search. well they seem to have found it but then I was trying to get the credit they tell me it is pending but not applied to my account. but now my account is overdue. I called Friday and they said call today. Call today get hung up on after 45 minutes. I finally talk to someone else. but when I looked up the tracking number it only shows it was picked up dec 3rd. so She feels a report and they are supposed to contact me by the second if they accept or deny my claim. I also received the phone back today with a letter saying I returned it too late. So Have a iphone 7+ a bill for 949.00 abda tracking number that does not show any past tracking info. I am hoping if I go to the post office with the tracking number they can get all the tracking info. I have a screenshot of the last tracking scan but they only accept faxes. like really? in this day and age?

If I could communicate better I would. But I do the best I can

The instructions don't say that, and as I mentioned in an earlier post I went to my local corporate AT&T store and they said no, that the only way that one could do that would be if the new iPhone and the new NEXT contract were done right there at the AT&T store could the old phone be handed in there. It's a different process when handled at the Apple store. It certainly would be much better if one could do that -- buy the new iPhone at the Apple store, start a new NEXT contract and then take the older iPhone to the nearest AT&T store to fulfill the previous NEXT contract!

man this is crazy. going to the store to give them the proof I sent it when I did the store had no way to copy the info and send it in. but the guy noted the account with the info. But trying to get someone to understand and do something is proving next to impossible. my wife talked to a supervisor who seemed to have a understanding and she said the problem was the phone was reported lost but I had it in hand. finally just got a return label but I am taking it into the store. but even then till I get the refund I am not counting my chickens.

Steve, you are supposed to count SHEEP, not chickens my friend, no wonder you can't sleep.........

well there is no way to send it back but for the service. they don't give a real address so I could not add delivery confirmation or anything but I did get a scan receipt from the post office.
