Not sure how else I'm supposed to buy it, my debit card has a $500 limit per day =\.

Also pretty stunned at the re-gifting comment.

As someone previously mentioned the $500 "limit" is probably just for cash withdraws and should not prevent you from using it on this purchase (assuming you have the fund).

As for using a credit card... There is nothing wrong with it, but as someone else stated don't do it if you don't plan on paying it off right away or if there is no "interest free" period. If you are going to get charged interest at all for the purchase then it's not worth doing it. I bought my rMBP with my Discover card mainly so I could get the extra 5% cash back, and then paid off the balance on my next statement.

In regards to buying such an expensive item for your girlfriend, that's none of my (or anyone else's) business. You know how your relationship stands (or at least I hope you do) and whether or not such a purchase is prudent.

As for which Macbook you should go with... Right now your best bet is probably a 13" MBP since you stated you did not want to go with the Air. The rumored 13" rMBP may be announced/launched before Christmas, but I doubt it will be around your price range. If she's a student you can also buy from the Apple Education store which will save you some $ and you don't even need a .edu address to confirm or anything.

I don't think there is anything wrong with using a credit card to buy this laptop. Personally I use my CC on everything and then I pay the full balance every month. Miles+credit history...

Exactly, if you have a problem with running up a huge balance and then taking a long time to pay it off, using a credit card is a bad idea. If you're buying something and paying it off right away, you're building credit and potentially racking up "bonus points" if your credit card offers them. Additionally, some credit cards offer buyer protection and extended warranties.

He said in his first post that he has 12 months interest free, I think the people telling him not to buy using a credit card didn't read that part.

I think the poster was implying that our women deserve brand new stuff. At least mine thinks so.

Really, won't the MacBook Air run MineCraft? I purchased a MacBook Pro for my wife 6 months ago and it's just too much machine for her needs. Regret not getting her the Air.

Yes, Minecraft runs just fine on the Air. It'll even handle games such as Counter Strike.

For more information on the MBP 13 inch versus Air 13 inch, take a look at a blog post I wrote... The performance difference is not big enough to necessarily justify the MBP 13 inch based on that factor alone.
