hi. i am in sort of a bind. i am on att mobile share (non-NEXT) for three lines.

my parents are on really old iPhones. i lost my iPhone so i need a new one.

my parents said they are more than fine with iPhone 6 which costs around $20 on ATT NEXT.
i am going with apple upgrade program for 6s because its considerably cheaper and basically comes with applecare for free.

the reason i don't do all 3 lines on apple upgrade program is that it doesn't seem like apple upgrade program offers leasing for older phones like the 6 which i wanted to for my parents.

I REALLY REALLY didn't want to fragment my bills and accounts. is there any suggestion?

thanks so much.

I'm curious as to why you think the Apple upgrade program is considerably cheaper and comes with applecare for free. It isn't and it doesn't.

hi thanks for replying:)

using 6s 64gb as the base.

apple upgrade is 36 a month.
att next12 is 37 a month.

so i figured apple upgrade is cheaper and because its also cheaper, the applecare is basically free baked in.

ATT should give you around a $15-25 discount per line that is using the NEXT program so going with ATT is much cheaper

But isn't the Apple plan a 24-month plan and Next 12 a 20-month plan?

honestly i have no idea. is it?

i thought of that too.

i have my lines already at the discount since i had old phones on it. so it's 15 a line instead of 40

If you are planning to trade the phone in after a year to get a new one, then sure. But it didn't sound from your OP that you were an every year upgrader. The extra year warranty of AppleCare doesn't mean anything if you trade in after one year. You would get 2 years instead of 90 days of phone technical support, and coverage for 2 incidents of accidental damage, subject to a fee of $99 for each one. That's not much. That's why the AppleCare if you only keep the phone for one year is peanuts.

But if you plan to keep the phone another year and finish the financing contracts, then AT&T Next 12 is a 20 month financing contract, and the Apple plan is a 24 month contract. So you will pay an extra $136 in that second year compared to Next.
