It seems that the only way you can get Samsung to honour their warranty in the UK is to make a lot of noise on social media and blogs etc.

Or.... just make an appointment with a service centre, drop your device off, pick it up 2 days later completely sorted, with more bits replaced for new ones that was actually needed..
