Really? That is sooooo awesome!.
But something to do with that too..
I'm trying to install WoW...on the 3rd expansion..and i'm trying to do the patches part, and it's saying i'm behind a firewall.
Only reason I ask is because its going way slower. Wondering if I can change that somehow.
Anyone?

Hey..
Been debating for awhile but have finally decided to get one.
Always had a pc so this will be something new. I just had a few questions about it before I actually go get one.

I was thinking of getting 4gb instead of 2gb...Is it worth it?
I'd only be really surfing the web, email(if that with iphone), playing WoW (Anybody play?), and yea.. nothing with intense programs.

Also, how is the screen? Is it small? Right now I have a 15.4.

Also, what is the best place to buy it from? I'd love to buy in person so I can get it right away. But if I "was" going to upgrade to 4gb...I would have to order it online since I want to customize huh? Or do Apple stores in best buy and such have any configured ones since 2 to 4 is pretty common right?

I'm sure I'll think of some more questions but this is all I got for right now.

Thanks. :)

4GB is far better for OS X than 2 GB... you'll benefit a LOT from that increase... even for your average use...

the screen is 13.3'... can be quite a downgrade from 15.4', especially when playing WoW full screen... but it is possible to get used to it

If you can afford it, get the 15" MBP... (but wait for the new ones, they're coming out soon)

Are you even reading the threads or just posting as much as you can to up your post count?

Well I already got my macbook...so ain't changing now..

The 4gb helps a lot I think. But for some reason still laggy if I have WoW going...and I switch to aim.. typing seems to slow down..like it can't keep up with my typing... anyway to change it?

And WoW...loooks aweesssome.. I up'ed a lot of the setting since it was stuck at like 30 fps...but it dropped to 20 fps..which is till awesome for the settings imo.

Should I be trying to get some sort of Norton or AVG program for macs? Or do they have there own sort of protection?

Congratulations on coming over to the light side. :)

A Mac doesn't need any kind of virus protection as there aren't any virus that will run on a Mac.

However, you should be aware that if you install Boot Camp and any version of Windows on your Mac then Windows will be susceptible to all the Windows nastiness that's out there so you should get the usual protection programs to run under Windows.

Oh, and one last thing, if you deal with files from Windows users like Word documents, etc. and you get an infected file it won't cause any harm on the Mac, but could be passed on to another unsuspecting Windows user if you continue to share the file(s).

Okay when you doing this can you open up Activity Monitor? (Applications/Utilities/Activity Monitor)

Look in the memory section (on the bottom); what does it say for 'Page Out'?

Also if you're playing a game that's really dependent on memory, I'd advise closing unnecessary programs to maximize your performance.

Right now with WoW on and this open..for page out it says 0.

Page outs should be less than page ins. If page outs are high it means you don't have enough RAM. A good rule-of-thumb is that page outs should be less than 20% of the page ins. The lower the better. Since yours is showing zero page outs you're good.

No. I know it's hard to believe, but you don't need anything like that.

Just use it and enjoy it. :)

Well..my Macbook was acting weird. I performed a full scan with ClamXav antivirus and 2 Viruses (Exploit or something like that) where found on my system. after deletion, everything's fine again.

Hey guys.

Ah, but this isn't quite the truth. There are viruses that can affect a mac, however they are incredibly rare, and there isn't any real reason for antivirus. Just wanted to clear that up in case someone manages to find one of these viruses. I have mine backed up with time machine anyway, so if anything happened to it, I could just restore the HD.

Is there anyway to transfer music from my old pc to my macbook through wifi? Instead of using a cable to transfer it all?

The aren't any VIRUSES that affect OS X. If you know of something please share. OS 9 and earlier had a few viruses, but even those weren't very common.

If both the PC and the Mac are on a network via WiFi then you should be able to share the PC's hard drive with the Mac and copy your music from the PC to the Mac and then have iTunes or another music player software import it.

The new Unibody MacBook is nice,4GB is a must,I need to get 4GB soon myself, but,to be honest, get a base line 13" MBP,it's $200 more but the body is so much better build, and the MB scratches way to easily. And the MBP has a SD card slot as well and firewire.
