Considering getting a 14pm upgrading from my iPhone 8 that I have had awhile. Now, is this a good phone ? Will I have any crazy bad issues with it like with hardware defects or anything of that nature? Should I just go for it and it’ll be a phone I shouldn’t have to worry about? I do the usual calls, videos , photos , FaceTime , some games here and there . Thanks

Yes.

There’s no way to predict the future. All companies occasionally have a defective unit or messed up model slip through the cracks. At the same time, sometimes design flaws aren’t discovered in products until years after they’re made.

As of right now, there are no widespread hardware issues or catastrophic failure points of a 14 Pro Max. There have been some software hiccups, but reports on those vary wildly.

It’s fine, just buy it.

It’ll be a very solid upgrade over the 8. If you’re not bothered by the Dynamic Island and extra camera lens, you can look into the 14 Plus which is also a very solid phone.

Neither of those bother me dynamic island looks nice and camera is fine . Just don’t want to buy a device and hear “ oh Crap there’s tons of hardware failures “ kind of thing .

No issues with my 14PM. Very happy with it.

Definitely go for it! I think you’ll really like the dynamic island (I love it). The camera is outstanding with the ability to shoot in 48 Megapixels. Not to mention satellite connectivity in case of an emergency where there’s no cell signal.

Ok I’m gonna pull the plug on it and do it.. no major hardware concerns/defects with the screen or anything correct?

My 14PM gets vibrated to death daily at work and has had no issues. Same can be said for the prior 13PM and 12 PM.

Hmm sounds interesting there was another thread with someone with a iPhone 8 looking to upgrade to a new iPhone!😆

why Max if its from 8? I did similar update (from SE 2020) and its been the best upgrade ever.

I have 14 Pro

One last question . A good grippy case with clicky buttons and isn’t insanely bulky? Prefer black . Thanks

There is. Here is this thin black Spigen case for iPhone 14 Pro Max - link at Amazon here. I have the same one for iPhone 13 Pro Max. Buttons are clicky and handling it is grippy. You will like it. Very affordable!

I had the liquid air on another phone. And I just remember it being somewhat slippery plastic feeling. Hope thin fit isn’t like that

The texture on the case is like very smooth rubber. Doesn't feel thicky but thin enough. Not plasticky feeling. I pocket it in front pant and pull it out without any problems.

I’m happy with mine. In a carpy Amazon case, been dropped several times, because I am a total klutz. Dropped onto wood and concrete. Screen is perfect, no scratches, everything works like new. 100 percent battery after 2 months. Quite satisfied. Wish it had usb c, but I’ll hopefully upgrade in 3 years.

Long as it doesn’t slip out of hand . That plastic like rubber I hate ..

What case ?

Since others have mostly covered what I wanted to say, how about the size and weight difference? 14PM is significantly larger and heavier than 8. Have you gotten a chance to try out the phone in real life first? Some say they only took a few days to get used to the difference, whereas some have difficulty holding the phone firmly. Also, note that 14PM has an OLED display while 8 has an LCD one. There are people, even though it is not common, who develop headaches or discomfort with OLED displays.

This is the one I have for my current 14 pro max. it's grippy, button still clicks and not insanely bulky.
