started pondering this after buying a google home due to the delay in home pod. in part because it would allow me to play my music through the home, but also i think it was the first non apple thing id bought in ages, and it made me think about whether i need to be so tied to apple.

thoughts are :
iTunes match to google home. i pay 30 euro a year, know its not a lot, for 27k songs to be stored on iTunes match. from the looks of it google will host it for free. plus my iTunes match isn't available on google home so im then paying 7 euro a month to get google play so i can play music on my google devices.

moving my music to google would a) allow me to play music on all my devices, b) allow me to consider binning the paid google play as i have most things i like anyway.

also, itd stop the annoying times my music disappears mainly due to logging out of app store to log in on my wifes account to get uk apps on my iOS devices.

whilst im at that, am i as well to move my pics to google? no big reason to do so, it'd only save 1 euro a month but ill soon run out of space on my pics and have to consider a higher tier.

questions:
do i need to redownload all my music and then upload it to google? 200 gb down and then back up again. or is there any automatic services like you get those that move from dropbox to mega etc...
does google do like apple and match it rather than you having to upload it all?
will google accept the apple format music?
is there any downside im missing?

is there any upsides or downsides to google pictures versus apple?

thanks in advance for any opinions or advice.
