Lol, what the hell...

This is actually such a solid plan. If you are flying from a major city within a Central time zone (Chicago, Dallas) a flight to LA would be about $97 - $150.

You'll get the most optimized head start if you are on airplane mode mid-flight at the apex of the timezone transitions. (Between 2:00AM CT and 12:00 PDT)

????o_O

Now if you want to wait in line at apple store on release day, then fly to the other side of the dateline where the X is being released.

This is BRILLIANT.

I'm going to fly to Australia, where it is already Friday, to get tomorrow's winning LOTTO numbers in the USA.
Shhhhh, my retirement fund plan. Get all the stock prices and horse track results to bet on also. (Thanks for the idea Marty McFly)

OP's idea is good...but the best strategy is to launch yourself into space in an orbit around the earth. Due to Einstein's Theory of General Relativity, time will move slower - saving YOU precious microseconds during that preorder!

I agree - find a guy called "Doc" with a DeLorean and travel to June 22nd 2018, walk into an Apple store and freely pick the X model you want, hop back in the DeLorean and come back to Oct 27th, 2017 - you'll have an X on launch day :)

oh wow. this is sad.
You realize that while it is 12:01am in Cali, it's 3:01am on the east coast, right? The time for people in Cali is 3 hours earlier, yes. On what their clock says. But the same things are happening at the same moment everywhere in the world.
