My wife and I are thinking of upgrading to the Series 4 but would love for some people who have and use LTE to comment on the quality of it. We are Apple Music subscribers and I am primarily interested in how well the music streaming works, phone calls, etc., when you leave your phone behind. I am a runner and curious how reliable it is if I go for a run without my phone or leave my phone in the locker at the gym, etc. Any feedback?

Really depends what your LTE network coverage is like, more than anything. Here in London I get great reception and use LTE for the gym, calls and streaming music with no issues at all. I have a Series 3 btw.

I have had no issues with mine. It may be worth pointing out that the actual monthly cost (at least on AT&T) is over $15 when all fees are added in.

Apple Music works well. Podcasts are a breeze and even radio stations. Using Siri to play a particular album may be an exercise in patience. I would love to just scribble sometimes and get the artist or album I really want to listen too sometimes.

My son used it just as you said . Leaves phone behind in locker while at the gym or at wrestling practice. That is the only reason why we turned on LTE for him.
He has no issues with paired AirPods .
My Gym has Wifi so I disabled the cell plan personally. I found a lot of my corporate email didn't come down over LTE for some reason but it did via wifi.

I've noticed that generally if your phone can stream Apple Music fine in the same location the Watch will be good too. Had mine for about a week now and no issues at all!

I have an LTE model on T-Mobile. I love it, I am the type of person who likes to leave my phone at home, so it has made a pretty big difference to me. It works well, haven't had any hiccups or issues of any type. Seems to have signal just as good as my Xs.

If I recall correctly, Apple upgraded the LTE anntena in the Series 4, and it seems to be more improved from what I have read.

That said, if you are a runner, I think LTE is a huge benefit, because it allows you to leave your phone behind, stream your music directly from your watch to your AirPods if you own them. You can also check with your carrier, I do know they were offering first time trials for customers free for 90 days, that may be expired by now, but you never know if your carrier might make an exception Or offer an alternative.

Not only $15 but there’s also $30 one time activation which seems like unnecessary fee. But AT&T did have $60 credit back promo a few months ago for activating Apple Watch.
