I thought I had every cable, adapter, and dongle under the sun.

A second monitor would be soooo helpful for what I'm about to do for my next deadline.
Family visiting for Christmas is sleeping upstairs in my study, so my multi-monitor setup there doesn't help.
I thought - no problem, I've used Duet before with my same Thinkpad and my old iPad Pro w/ lightning connector, and it has worked perfectly.

However, now I have the iPad Pro with USB-C. Duet is not recognizing it. I searched their FAQ and Getting started - no relevant answer found.

I have these adapters / dongles:
    Apple's USB-C to USB-A (female)
    https://www.apple.com/shop/product/...9054559822b4cc307ca4c2c7f6a656254b55f8eae5500

    USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter
    https://www.apple.com/shop/product/...8a67d830665b7820074a5ee8563e7c9e3992b5b4cdc23

However, to plug it into my Thinkpad USB 3 port I needed to find a USB gender changer to go from the USB-A (female) to what I need, USB-A (male).
    Net: Still didn't work.

I suspect the gender changer is the problem.

So I looked through my USB-C box to find a single cable that is: USB-A (that is also USB-3) male to USB-C

I don't have that! I thought for sure I would have one.
I do have several that are like:
    Apple's USB-C to USB-A (female)
    https://www.apple.com/shop/product/...9054559822b4cc307ca4c2c7f6a656254b55f8eae5500
but I can't plug a USB-A female cable into my Thinkpad's USB port. Gah!

Then, I looked on Amazon to find a single cable that is: USB-A (that is also USB-3) male to USB-C
I don't see one. Do you?

Duet just doesn’t support usb c yet, isn’t that what the issue is?! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Thank you Akash, I didn't see that stated from Duet (could you paste the link?)

However, let's pretend you are correct.

I still want 1 single cable that I can plug directly into my Thinkpad USB-3 port and my iPad Pro USB-C port. 1 cable without dongles.

    Does that cable actually exist?
Ex: Will this cable work and support the video / Thunderbolt part?
    https://www.amazon.com/PowerBear-2-...545304632&sr=8-3&keywords=USB+C+data+transfer

    It has to, right?
Going from USB-A ports to USB-C ports doesn't seem that exotic of a request.

I can use duet with my IPP 11" and MBP over a USB C cable I bought elsewhere that carries data. Believe it should be possible in your case as long you can find the correct cable...

    Does this help?!

    https://help.duetdisplay.com/faq/119908-which-cable-do-i-use-to-connect

This I’m not too sure about. But if duet doesn’t work with USB C then does your requirement still stand here?

    Thank you akash.
I wonder if I could make it work with a Lightning to USB-C converter....

I wish Duet would just say somewhere whether or not they support the new iPad Pro's, rather than making it an inference from that cable type question.

ex: After reading this page, I expected them to support the new iPad Pro's.

    Cool! Thank you @dr34mc4st3r !

    What cable did you buy?

Does the cable have to explicitly say support for "thunderbolt 3"?

Which from this list are most like yours?

I removed the link so no one else falls for it.
They are clearly making $$ off of his name. I wonder if he knows about it?
