How is cashing out and moving forward with a career strong arming by Apple?
The OP is assuming that if Apple had not sued ThinkSecret that Nick would still be doing ThinkSecret, furthermore if Apple had not supposedly paid off said person named Nick, that Nick would still be doing ThinkSecret. So if Apple had not 'strong armed' (or lawyered) its way into his life Nick would still be doing ThinkSecret is the presumption. In case you were wondering.

I don't agree. Also in case you were wondering.

Out of all of the rumor sites I like MacRumors by far!
I agree 100% but it will be a sad day when AppleInsider and 9to5 go. AppleInsider often has some great articles (the Road to Leopard and Office 08 articles were awesome). 9to5 seems to have some great contacts. MR has the best forums and guides.

MR is the only site I visit often, the others have their place in NetNewsWire.

Actually AppleInsider already did "go" but they came back a couple years ago. Rumor sites come and go, same as any other computer site. Just the way life works.

I'm a little torn on the subject. It's sad to see Apple's legal tactics, of course, but it also gives Nick a nice (and profitable) way out. I admin a largish site myself, and while I really enjoy it most of the time, I do have moments of wondering where I'm going to be 5 years down the road, and if I'll be able to move on when I want to. So I don't know that it's necessarily a sad day for him. As for the rumour community - somebody else will move in to fill the gap. They always do.

Why? Microsoft isn't a secretive company. And the only thing I think they ever tried to prevent from getting leaked were the Zune 2 prototypes.

I think that was the point.

Think Secret was not very good when I started to pay attention to Apple rumors. It is still sad to see them go though. 9to5mac has taken there place as to where to go for reliable rumor info.

I didn't know that. Is that why it seems like there is a huge chunk of articles missing from their archives? There were never any articles in whatever timeframe that was?

hhmm not good, theyr all slowly going down. hopefully MR doesnt have the same thing in store for it !!!

The shutting down of think secret is a same. MR however operates much more safely and I doubt it is a target of Apple's. As long as we play nice I don't think there will be much to worry about.

i am loosing fate in Apple.
Buying off journalists and closing websites.
Not even Microsoft does that.

I agree if apple doesn't want people to know what it's doing then maybe it should stop making such damn awesome gadgets. Do I have an amen.

But does anyone remember...

thessasource.com?

or

AppleRecon?

Damn, I've been around the rumors scene too long. Hundreds of hours wasted.....

Think Secret was my first foray into Apple rumor sites, 4 years ago. I witnessed their decline in writing/rumors, and through community posts found AI and MR and moved on. Still, they were one of the originals and one with some of the juiciest stuff - hence the lawsuit, et al. I feel, though, that I've said my goodbyes a long time ago, as I haven't actively visited their site in years.

Apple is turning into a pretty evil company.

If MS had done something like this, there would have been outrage.

Sad to see the muted response to this.
