The third-generation AirPods are still on track to be launched before the end of this year, despite their lack of appearance during the iPhone 13 and Apple Watch Series 7 event earlier last month, according to DigiTimes.

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reported the weekend before Apple's September 14 "California streaming" event that the third-generation AirPods would make an appearance during the fully digital event. While that did not happen, the new AirPods are rumored to already be in mass production, and Apple is seemingly gearing up to launch them before the end of the year.

The new AirPods will be the first significant update to the AirPods lineup since the AirPods Pro three years ago. The new AirPods are expected to feature an updated design that takes inspiration from the higher-end AirPods Pro but lacking in "Pro" features. Rumors are unclear on whether the new AirPods will feature silicone ear tips or not, as leaked images and renders depict both possibilities.

Apple announced its AirPods Pro via a press release in 2019, and besides their initial announcement on stage in 2016, AirPods have not yet been given dedicated airtime during an Apple event. Apple could announce the new third-generation AirPods via a press release in the coming weeks, or alternatively include them in its rumored second event for the fall, expected to take place later this month or in November.

Well, I hope so, because my right Airpod 1st generation doesn't last more than 15 minutes now. The left one still gets a good hour. Strange that battery wear would be so dramatically different.

Along with updated AirPods Max in new colourways 🤞

Or maybe split the Max line into:
  • 'Max' (new sport design)
  • 'Max Pro' (current design, with feature tweaks & new colours)

I like the Pros, but the silicone tips just don't fit well in my ears. If they release new AP with no tip, I think I'll pick them up. I no longer commute into work -- re: covid -- so NC isn't as important these days.

You need them for the seal to get noise cancellation. They wouldn’t be Pros without this. Might as well go with the AirPods.

I notice on my AirPods Pro sometimes one side has a 82% charge and the other side with a 15% charge and I don’t use one over the other for example on a phone call.

There’s so many little holes and proximity sensors on these, a black version would be great - much like all the cameras and sensors hidden behind the iPhone notch.

I thought about waiting to replace my AirPods 2nd Gen, but I can’t imagine the Gen 3 would have all the Pro features so I ended up buying the Pros and man I can’t believe I waited so long. Hard to imagine how they could improve the AirPods Pro.

Would love to see a black option. But just like the EarPods, they're probably keeping these white.

hopefully soon… my 1st gens are kinda getting lousy with battery life but I really don’t like the pro design or silicon tips which won’t have them on these thankfully

Until apple releases airpods with different sized rubber pieces, i will never buy them. the old air pods just fall out of my ears, causing me to lose one. sorry apple.

Talking about AirPods I’m having terrible problems with mine since iOS 15 they just don’t switch between iPad & iPhone automatically like they are supposed to ? it’s so bad it’s like using an android device ?.
