Third party Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapters

Hey guys, just got my first macbook pro. Would love your opinions on this.

Do third party mini displayport to DVI adapters tend to do the same job as Apples own? I'm new to the whole apple world and £30 for a simple adapter seems rather steep.

Would something like the link below do pretty much the same thing?

i bought one off ebay and it works just fine... they are a fraction of the cost and they work, why pay £30 for one?

In a word yes.

I recent got this 3rd party mdp to hdmi as I already had a hmdi to dvi cable.
Maybe it doesn't quiet look as nice as the official Apple product, mainly due to the branding but plugging anything to a Mac tends spoil the clean lines.
