I just received my Mac Mini M1. I tried an Adesso Bluetooth mouse but it seemed to have momentary stutters and the cursor doesn’t move smoothly. I searched around my house and found an original Apple Magic Mouse (the model that uses batteries.). This one seems to work okay in limited usage so far. But, I really don’t like the ergonomics of the Magic Mouse. I’d rather have left and right buttons and a scroll wheel. But I read there are intermittent issues with the 3rd party mice reviews I looked at like the MX Anywhere 3. Does anyone own a mouse model that works well? I know that Bluetooth interference can also play a factor. Upgrading my Magic Mouse to the Magic Mouse 2 is not an option since it has the same ergonomics with a rechargeable battery. Thanks!

I'm thinking of getting this mouse below.

Logitech G502 HERO High Performance Wired Gaming Mouse

This would replace the 2007 Mighty Mouse. The USB cable that is located by the mouse frayed and I cannot be bothered to open and resolder.

Logitech.
Get a wireless mouse that uses their "unifying receiver".

You can try plugging the receiver into a USBa port on the back of the Mini.
Be aware that USB electrical interference from other cables plugged in might possibly interrupt the smooth communication between the mouse and the receiver.

IF that happens, you could get a "USB extension cable" (3' would probably do), plug THAT into a USBa port, then "loop it around" and plug the receiver into the extension cable.

Don't want to frighten you off by stating this, chances are the unifying receiver will work just fine plugged directly into the port...

One more thing:
I found the Logitech control software to be "on the bloated side".
There are a couple of 3rd-party apps that work as well or better:
- USB Overdrive
- Steermouse.

I suggest you give one (or both) a try.
Easily "un-installed" if you don't like them.

Do you want a wireless mouse? I've never had any issues with wired $10 PC USB office mice and they all have two buttons plus a scroll wheel. And never run out of battery.

I had a Razer Atheris Wireless/Bluetooth mouse for 4-ish years but I almost always used the provided dongle because it was much faster than the bluetooth (which would lag). Occasionally when I'm running out of USB-C ports from other peripherals, I would switch to bluetooth. With my M1 upgrade, the bluetooth did not work at all, so I switched to Logitech.

Got a Logitech Signature M650 Wireless Mouse, and the bluetooth works perfect. Battery life is insane compared to the Atheris. The speed of the mouse is also fast, on bluetooth (shocker for me). I don't know why I stuck with the Atheris for as along as I did and that dang dongle, will not be going back to Razer ever again - the Logitech is hands down a better mouse. Regretted not upgrading sooner.

Edit: I'm considering getting the MX Anywhere for my MBA.

If you have ever experienced any wrist pain; I highly recommend the Evoluent Vertical Mouse. It may look a bit odd, but it feels SO good to use. You get used to it very quickly, and no more wrist pain. Also it comes in multiple sizes so you can find one that fits your hand.

I use the included USB dongle because I've found bluetooth mice can be a bit flaky on M1.

I’m pleased with my Logi MX Anywhere 3 mouse.
I also use this and really like it. I like the compact size vs the full size MX Master 3.

Do you use built in Bluetooth or a usb dongle to connect it?
I use the dongle when using at my MacMini at home and BT when using w/ my MacBook. You can have up to 3 connections. I haven't noticed any difference in performance.

If it’s wired there probably won’t be any issues. I was thinking about a bluetooth model.
I use a Logitech G903 for my gaming PC and often use it on my MacBook Pro when using it in clamshell mode. Works pretty well however if you are used to Windows mouse movement, you will quickly feel the weirdness of macOS mouse tracking. Lastly, it uses a USB-A Lightspeed adapter with no BT support. Kind of a bummer if you only need a BT enabled mouse. Otherwise like others have said, MX Master 3 is the probably the way to go.

I use Bluetooth, and it’s worked well. But, get the Windows version of the mouse, not the Mac version. The former includes the usb dongle, whereas the latter oddly does not. The two versions are otherwise identical.

Just recently upgraded my mouse to the Logitech MX master 3. As a designer assigning keystrokes to the multiple buttons and horizontal scroll wheel really changed and improved my workflow. Highly recommended.

My Razer Orochi stopped pairing with all systems (Intel and M1) with Ventura. Still have to test against some older systems to see whether it is the macOS version. I used to use it with the same hardware.

i am using the Lenovo Go Multisystem for about one year now. I am quite pleased with it, no batteries to change, i charged it only few times in one year and use it 4-6 hot per day. You can connected to two bluetooth devices and one wifi with the provided wifi dongle. The bluetooth works very good, never seen a shattering cursor, but the wifi is sometimes lagging, not very good. I am using it with MacOs on MBP, a w10 bootcamp installation and also several W10 laptops.

I'm using a Razer Orochi v2 currently (with the RF dongle; haven't tried bluetooth yet). It's quite comfortable for my smaller hand.
I think I paid only like $40 or $50 at Best Buy a few weeks ago (definitely less than the $70 retail).

One advantage to a Logi mouse, which is admittedly an edge case, is that if your Bluetooth goes, you can just use the unifying receiver.

My 2018 Mini lost Bluetooth going to 12.5… 12.5.X and 12.6 didn’t fix it. So now I run my Magic Keyboard via usb, and the Logi mouse via unifying receiver.
