I'm trying to render a video in Final Cute Express, and it says it's going to take 5 hours. Oh, now 6. It's only a 200MB file, not 720p or anything. Why is this taking so long? It isn't my computer, I just got it last week and it has 4GB RAM and a 2.93Ghz processor. Why is FCE taking so long?

What format is the source file? You might want to transcode it before using FCE. Programs like mpegstreamclip can quickly convert avis, mpegs and similar files into DV format.

FCE does not have the benefit of Compressor like FCP does.

It's a MP4, converted from a WMV which I imported with WMM from my DV camera.
