    I have been trying to figure this out also. Sometimes I have to force mail to quit but have not been able to figure out since 3.0

    Wow, did not know that. I haven't had to force quit an application since I started using the 3.0 Betas. Thanks for the information!

    This would've been useful yesterday when my Safari completely froze lol :(

    Thanks. Sometimes the Mail app refuses to update until it's closed down. With 3.0, I would just reset my phone but this is much easier.

    Anyone know why they changed it to begin with?

    cause now on the 3GS when you just hold down the home button voice control pops up

    So just holding down the Home button doesn't work for EDGE/3G iPhones, even though they don't have the Voice capability?

    Yep.... Apple wanted to keep a consistency between all the phones
