This is How you force quit on 3.0

To force quit an application in 3.0, press and hold the sleep/wake button until the slide to power off screen appears, then press and hold the home button until the application quits (about six seconds).

I have been trying to figure this out also. Sometimes I have to force mail to quit but have not been able to figure out since 3.0

Thanks. Sometimes the Mail app refuses to update until it's closed down. With 3.0, I would just reset my phone but this is much easier.
