I did not find anywhere else to post this...but I thought it was cool to share with all mac users : http://anandtech.com/tradeshows/showdoc.aspx?i=2420&p=5 Isn't a real shame for Microsoft ?
Nice. It gives me hope for emulation, even if the quality is drastically reduced. It'd be great for Apple to get some real (in terms of quantity) gaming happening.
Okay, well first of all, it's the specs of the PPC that make it "lacklustre" since the games are optimised for a slightly different processor despite the G5 being the machine-of-choice for early developers. So why would they use Macs? They might not want their new (and probably merely prototype) boxes being slammed by a crowd of game-hungry monsters. Also, the actual machines might not even be ready just yet.
Wow, I didn't know that developers were using G5's for XBox titles. I wonder if we'll ever see of these games running on our Mac's
Particularly with regards to AA support, I think. The next-gen consoles are expected to pretty much annihilate the current crop of GPU's. andy.
I once heard that the Gaming industry is the biggest (if not THE, at least one of them) contributors to computer technology improvements, always pushing the limits of what we have and demanding more... On a thread note though...that is so dang funny. No wonder Bill can't sleep, his software sucks, and he has to use his enemies hardware at his own conference. Beautiful!
Who's Driving Tech Processing power / memory and hard drive capacity are pushed to the limit even on a Power Mac G5 when working with video. And that's just with SD content With Hi-Def it's much worse. That coupled with advances in Hi-Def televisions and how they tie into the home network of the future should push video (in all of it's forms) to the #1 spot over gaming for the lead dog that drives technology IMHO.
so when do people realize that macs have the power to be incredible gamming machines and start developing games for mac?!?!?!! i hope someone out there gets xbox games working on mac, that would rock!
seems to me that people are forgetting that the 360 games that were running on g5's at e3 were only running at 33.3 percent of the power availible. that means that the games that were playable were only at 33 percent of what they are going to look like on the 360. so no, the g5's for gaming are not that powerful at all all those games were pretty much the strongest that the g5 can run the games on 360 will look soo much better still not as good as the ps3 though
