Just pre-ordered one of these babies. I think its pretty sick! You have to watch the video to appreciate it.

Ok, the photo made me think "pointless."

But once I watched the promo video, I totally get this. Being able to video conference and "look around" at the other people just by moving your finger... That's pretty amazing.

I deal with far, far too many video conferences at work where people can't be seen. And the camera control software we use is basically crap compared to this device.

I sure don't need one at home, but I could see this being a huge hit with small businesses that want to video conference but don't have dedicated AV staff to actually run cameras at meetings.

I get it and I think it's cool, but I'm not sure if it's something really useful. As a monitoring device, whose going to leave their iPhone at home and bring their iPad without their phone. And as far as hooking it up on a tree, for security purposes (at least, that's how I interpreted it), it's just plain ridiculous.

I get if you want to use it conjunction with a tripod, but you'd still need an iPad to navigate it.

I don't know about this one. The design is cool and concept I get, but I don't think it's useful.

I don't think the tree shot was meant to show the iPhone as a security device/camera (that's one expensive camera). I think it's more as a showcase to Galileo's versatility when it comes to location.

I do agree that it shouldn't need another iOS device in order to operate. You should be able to program the movement using the mounted iPhone or useable with your mac computer. Still I pledged my $5 cause I think it's cool.

Wow! That is really cool; I think I want one. I even made a pledge too.

Hopefully he hits is 100k goal. I bet within a few days this thing catches fire on the web and it takes off.

In for one, too.

Just an idea

Not a bad idea... all you need is add a pico projector and turn this setup into a mobile Planetarium... maybe a lens mount to add aesthetics? :D

This is a very useful tool especially considering you can use another camera on it! The GoPro!!!

This would make for some seriously great recording angles when capturing riders doing tricks without actually having to put yourself in danger. Plus you can have the camera follow their direction as they say hit a jump.

$85 is not a bad price at all for this to be quite honest.

oh yea man. this is definitely the next big thing.

its going to get picked up. Im going to invest stock now.

As others have said, the picture definitely doesn't do it justice, you definitely need to watch the video. As far as price is concerned, I was expecting it to be over $100 considering some high end docks and cases sell around the $85 mark and they seem to sell.

One of my concerns is that although the sdk will be openly available, I do not know what it is capable of upon release. Will there be apps available in the app store that allow me to use like it is seems in the videos (video conferencing/auto panning, etc). The idea and product seems great, but I would be really bummed out if the software is hard to use and/or buggy.
