13" base model 2.3 core i5, with the 128gb SSD option. With education discount this puts it at 1324.00. This is just 25.00 more that the 13" MBA. For 25.00 more the performance blows away the air. Things I give up. 1. Portability, and higher res screen of the air. The MBP is still extremely portable, and thin compared to most offerings non-apple. 2nd while the resolution remains 1280x800 it is still a great screen that is crisp with excellent colors. I recently returned a 13" mba for this mbp and while the mba screen is sharper with higher res, my wifes 13" macbook pro has better color and subjectively looks nicer. If your not a huge multi tasker which I am not the 1280x800 screen is fine. JMO.

I'm sure you'll be more than happy with that model. Though personally I wouldnt have switched out a MBA for it.

Congratulations on the purchase. I just got back from buying the i7 13" MBP. I need something to develop software on the go. The IGP is actually a lot better than most people make it out to be. My desktop at home has 3x 24" Dell IPS monitors ran from 2x 5870s so if I need a gaming fix it certainly won't be on the macbook. As far as multi-tasking on lower resolutions, how come people haven't learned to alt+tab yet?

I feel the same way. Unless one needs the extra RAM or storage offered by MBP, an MBA is an excellent choice.
