This is why the fitness feature on the  Watch is no good for me.

This. Unfortunately weight lifting generally doesn’t burn a lot of calories as it doesn’t keep a sustained elevated heart rate. It should be enough to count as your exercise minutes though.

Gonna have to disagree with you here. If you are going to failure every set (after warmup), weight lifting does indeed burn a lot of calories. Your muscles go into repair/recoup, and therefore burn a significant amount of calories, even when you are sleeping. Weight lifting burns an awful lot of calories. Per week weight lifting burns more calories than my weekly cardio sessions. This is why the watch is completely irrelevant to me for exercise. It can properly measure what I do, and wearing wrist straps, know where to mount the watch even if it did.

I use Strength Traning as my option when I lift, and it’s pretty accurate.

As for weight traning burning as many cals as cardio - really too many variables. I can burn 2,000 cals if I do a 60 mile ride on the bike and on average I burn 800-1200 over a 25-30 mile ride.

The mapmyfitness or mapmyrun apps have an option for gym workout, I've been using that. Probably pretty comparable to the 'other' option from the stock fitness app ;)

You're absolutely right, I should have elaborated more to what I said about burning calories due to elevated heart rate.

Where’s the strength training option?!

From what I understand, the previous software configurations were actually conservative in their calorie counts, where as 5 and 5.1 are more accurate. I wouldn’t get frustrated with it, technology is still developing and getting better, and we have to adjust with it. Besides, calories is just an invisible number, the goals should be in areas more definite and important to track, such as weight, cholesterol, etc.
Where did you hear all that? After watch os 5 this is what a lazy day at home looks like. Almost closed my move ring AND burned 2800 calories? That’s insane. There has to be something wrong here

I agree. This seems to be my average without doing much and just going to work and getting back home..

And this is on the day when I actually went to the gym and had an hour and half long strength training session.

So I enabled the workout app today and chose “other” option before starting my workout and whatever it calculated ( I know it’s incorrect ), I seem to manage to close all the 3 rings..

Killed it today.

I use the Strength Training workout on apple watch. Have also used other 3party apps. I feel they pretty much all work the same in regards to lifting weights

I just want rest days. There should be a streak for people who are consistently workout but don’t work out every day single day.
I agree with this. I've been going on crazy long walks every day to try and complete the October Challenge assigned to me. I love a challenge, but a rest day every now and again would be nice.

I didn’t have a strength training option, so had to choose other and then name the workout as strength training. Is that what you did as well?

I don’t really care much about closing the rings everyday. I know my workout schedule and I stick to that. Closing the rings are just fun activity for me on the side. Most of the rings go round without me actually doing any workout anyway.

You know what, I've had the watch since day one, so likely. However, I even have a dumbbell icon on mine. Was Apple that smart to figure it out?

Yeah so when you choose the other option and then you go to save the workout, there are some pre configured option you can choose from and strength training was in the list. When I chose that, the figure appeared for me as well.

Perfect. That works for me and I can tell you I dont close all the rings on strenth training alone, like your previous one did.

Hello.
So if I understand, the ring circles are not really useful?
For weight training you should use a ln application and don’t care about circles activities?
Is it correct ?

Kind of. It’s hard / impossible for a device to track weight training properly having attached to just one part of the body.
