Should work. Needs to have a master/slave jumper on the adapter, which you set to master. Then no problem.

For Macs, it seems that the adapters with red PCBs work best - here's one which was installed in my iMac G3:

It can be a gamble with other types. Fingers crossed that yours is ok. If you run into problems, track down an adapter with the red PCB and you should be fine. As @mectojic has advised, don't forget to set the jumper correctly. 🙂
