Haaaa!Nothing more hilarious than YouTube beefs, they are so dramatic.

Couldn’t careless, I’ll continue to watch UnboxTherapy along with MKBHD, EAP, Mr.Mobile, Dave2D, Austin Evans, The Verge, Engadget etc etc.... I don’t want to watch nothing but positive reviews about Apple or Android, I want to see all the sides.

I like Lew, is he perfect? Hell no, but I enjoy his take on a lot of tech.

For every big YouTuber you can find some negative video about them on an oversight they made, it is entertaining I have to say.

My personal favourites are -

Yep completely agree. His presentation style is just too annoying for me to even finish a single video until now. I hope he’s not like that in real life.

Thank you! They're incredibly toxic. There's a very small minority that are good and biased but yeah. They're also designed to make your last year's device feel like ancient technology.

Followed by saying he and his family are set for life, but ohh right he's so worried about the world and ethics...


....that he within days dismissed those thoughts and went back to his usual "hey check this new tech so you can buy it oh and cheeky sponsor joke!! hehehe isn't capitalism funneh?"

Also this was all inspired by a kid in the Make a WIsh foundation asking something from him and BOOM suddenly reality, for once, hit Linus's head. "Oh I realize we're all gonna die" was one of the things he said in the video.. bizarre.

Like really, so many Youtubers (especially the massive ones) have their head like permanently in the clouds...

I watch quite a lot of YT videos and like some more than others, mostly Mr Mobile, Rene Ritchie, zollotech, Erica and MobileTechReview.

But to me almost all aren't real reviews. Esp when it comes to phones and smartwatches, my main hobby. They all say the same thing and don't go in too deep. F.e. there are a lot of people, like me, who do a lot of traveling, and no one ever mentions real stuff like call quality, reception. OK, reception on iPhones are really bad in general. Still, one is often better than the other. I wish they would test those phones more deeply and not so superficial. With information to show.
Some are better than others but is there any REAL reviewer, someone who tests gadgets through the roof, everything, with comparisons etc. Not after 1-3 days, but after maybe a months REAL tests, technical stuff. No. I have almost never ever seen a review where some says stuff about reception etc. Sometimes zollotech or Nick Ackerman does that, but only mentioning it like it is unimportant. It is always the same, camera, camera, camera. Camera comparisons, battery comparisons. But all the same, useful in the beginning but no reviewer really stands out. EricaGriffin is good with gadget display reviews, she is underrated imo because she does one thing almost no one else does. Specializing on one thing of a gadget and really reviewing that one hardware component, showing real information. I would love that for all technical stuff... display, reception, call quality etc. Why is every YouTuber saying the same and reviewing the same? Really disappointing.

I watch YTs like MBHKD, iJustine etc. too, but only for entertainment, not for real reviews and information. MBHKD produces good quality videos but I think his content is as superficial as all others, esp. reviews. And overrated.

iPhonedo I just found out about some months ago and I like his videos, esp because I think he is so funny. I don't know if this is what he wants it to be but I think he is almost like a comedian, very entertaining and funny. And he goes a little deeper imo than others, but still superficial at the end.

This!!! It is hilarious

They all do this crap and try act Holier-Than-Thou in their own way. Most of these big reviewers are incredibly narcissistic to, you can almost tell when they cross that bridge between trying to make it big and being big, I see it with Automotive YouTubers as well, they get that one big supercar they had been working hard for and the channel takes a huge turn at this point , subscriber numbers go through the roof and they are a big shot who suddenly has this new point of view of the world.

Like honestly, if a YouTuber has you feeling some sort of way, it’s best to just unsubscribe and end it there.

Absolutely loved Ericas videos! I totally agree! This is why Zacks channel JerryRigEverything is also so attractive, they are very specialized and intriguing, they tell you something different from the usual “Oh it’s a pretty good phone, battery lasts a day with my usage, blah blah blah, I just wish they had done this, blah blah blah”

What is going on with Erica though? She has gone very quiet, uploads like once a month at best these days, it’s awful that we are stuck with the overplayed template of YouTubers who do high level view of a phone. Sometimes I will watch just MKBHD or just AEP or Dave2D and not bother with most of the others when a new phone arrives, like the iPhone SE, they all pretty much were the same review, just different face, lol.

Someone who I do throughly enjoy though is Mr.Mobile, his reviews are also high level but he does them in such a way that they are super to the point, no long drawn crap he also almost always has a little bit of a different take to everyone else.

I knew YouTube was turning the point when people were freaking out about "camera bumps" and "notches" later. If I gave an iPhone X to any random person out and about back in 2017 and asked them "what do you think about this?" they wouldn't give a s--- about no damn notch or camera bump. They'd be like ooooh so shiny is this a new iPhone?

My favorite is EverythingApplePro. Love his presentations and style, and seems to always drop good information. I really like iPhonedo as well. That guy always has great content mixed with humor.
I’m in the minority I guess. I like watching UBT. And I like Lew. One channel I cannot stand is iJustine. That woman has ZERO cred where tech reviews are concerned. All fluff and no substance. In my opinion of course.

I like how Prosser presents tech news with a little humor. I guess everyone has their prefrences but if it's about tech, sort of credible and not whiny or too negitive I'll watch it. I used to love Linus till Apple refused to repair an iMac he broke while taking it apart. I was like oh whatever when he went into his whiny rant and I can deal with that but he never stopped. After so many videos of hearing him whine about the same thing I was like no I can't watch this anymore.

Besides all that, f.e. EverythingApple Pro ist TOTALLY overrated imo. I like him as a person with his style but his content is always old and most of the time so superficial. Ok it is nice to see how a phone breaks at which situation, height etc. and I think this is also something special or better was something special. I think besides JRE he started it somehow. But I cannot watch his videos anymore. I don't know why, seems like he is some boyband member for young girls. I feel like that when watching him.

But to me UT is really the worst. I have watched some videos years ago and never ever were there high quality videos with good knowledge, I cannot watch this guy, and because of Android vs iPhones but his style. Pah. And the most superficial channel out there, hyping news that are not newsworthy etc.

I also like Pocketnow, their reviews are like everyone else's out there, but they do a good job of neutrality. And Jaime is a great guy to watch imo. But also more for entertainment than for information.

This thread reminded me to deleted some channels from my subscription list. 👍

Yeah. Linus does have an element of that about him.

I watch Prosser. I think I might even be subscribed. He certainly does have a humorous side. I guess he is behaving the way he is because people called him a liar, but turns out he does have a reliable source.

Erica actually said she wants to focus on gaming content as that’s more her passion. I know I’ve missed her tech reviews as she was one of the best.

That's not my reason for disliking him as previously stated here. I watch plenty of content with criticisms of Apple as it gives a more even set of opinions. I'm openly critical of Apple sometimes myself here when I disagree with their strategy and implementations.

What I don't like about Unbox Therapy is his delivery in videos. Shouting, overly animated and downright annoying script. No problem with his opinions whatsoever. He's an actor and I understand he does this to generate clicks, but for me I find his videos nauseating and very difficult to watch.

Agree 100%. IMHO it's especially pronounced on a site like this who by it's nature is a product/brand focused site.

For me, I watch MrMobile, Dave2D, Mathew Motiz and MobileTechReviews. IMHO I've generally found these reviewers to be fairly neutral, which is what I prefer when watching a product review. I quite like the techchap and mrwhosetheboss, though they both do some sponsored content from time to time.

Reviewers like iJustine, Jonathan Morrison, and Jon Rettinger are far too Apple biased. Ditto for Rene Ritchie, though he's highlighted several grips with IOS on more than a few occasion. Linus and the majority of reviewers who work for him are too Android biased.

Jon P is (for me) good for a laugh, though I can see how his loud, outspoken personality may rub people the wrong way.

He's an actor and I understand he does this to generate clicks, but for me I find his videos nauseating and very difficult to watch.

Very true. Clicks = money. No different to those who show provocative thumbnail photos or headlines to promote their videos.

Though to be fair, there are a few out there who have hundreds of thousands, if not over a million subscribers who don't pull off such theatrics. Mobiletechreviews and Dave2D immediately come to mind.

I can't help but think there is some hypocrisy in those approaches as its all down to personal taste.You don't have to have an agenda based on what you choose to watch on YouTube. That is a far too simplistic assumption.

There is nothing wrong with disliking a channel for their style in my view. At the end of the day these videos are made for entertainment so it has to be enjoyable. Its good to get balance at the end of the day and not everybody on this thread who dislikes Unbox Therapy is an insular brand slave who doesn't like bad names used to describe their precious Apple. Lets not get too carried away here guys and gals.

Unsure if this is directed at me, but to answer the question no, in my opinion you can dislike any reviewer you like for whatever reason. The opposite view (liking a reviewer for whatever reason you deem valid) is equally applicable. Basically you can like what you like!

People who receive review units are biased as they have to make reviews that fit Apple their agenda. Else they will be blacklisted
