LOL! Wasn't the glass on the back of the 4/4S always breaking? :D

I never heard that. I have had two 4's (first one was replaced after 2 years for the power button not working) and neither of them even have had a scratch on the back glass let alone break.

I assume if any consumers did have their glass break it would have to be dropped without a case. I've had the same soft silicone BELKIN case since 04/2011 on both my 4's and both were in amazing condition. And I drop my phone a few times a week.

Which makes me question the build quality of the 5/5S. I keep hearing that even folks with a case on their phone have paint chipping off do to the anodized aluminum.

Because you used them in a case. D'oh. :D
Me, my father, mother and sister used our 4 & 4s naked and all of them had the back scratched. Very scratched.
I hate cases so all of my devices over the years where used naked.

Well, at least with the 5, it came down to the anodization process. Had Apple chosen to do that properly it would have been much less of an issue. They did change things somewhat though. My replacement 5 has held up much better than the way my launch day phone was going.

Still, with the 5s, Apple chose to just make lighter colors instead of fixing the process.

You may be right about cases and the back glass on the 4/4s. All I know is that there were lots of stories here about it breaking, and I can count on two hands the number of 4/4s devices I saw in the wild that had NON-broken glass. Some people seemed to take t as a badge as to how cracked it could look!

Not to turn this into a case/no case thread as both sides of that argument tend to be as virulent as Android/Apple fanbois, but I detest cases as well.

I don't sell my phones when I'm done with them, so that argument for cases of keeeping them nice to sell, doesn't hold here.

... The only one that looks like a real Apple product is the silver iPod Classic...

You do realize that black MacBooks were rare, many had/still have white MacBooks for one example. White is more an apple color than black.

As for me, most of my apple products are white and prefer them white. :)

Back to black !
White wasn't for me so I purchased a Space Grey iPhone 6 and iPad Air 2. :)

while i prefer black too for hardware colors, ios 7 and 8 look much much better on a white iphone.

also, the current black or silver ones make scratches easily visible too, which kinda sucks. iphone glass n steel 4s looked still like new after 2 years...

So I had only black iOS Devices since 2006...

iPods ;

- iPod Nano 2nd Gen
- iPod Shuffle 2nd Gen
- iPod Shuffle 3rd Gen

iPhones ;

- Original iPhone
- iPhone 3GS
- iPhone 4
- iPhone 5

I felt like this year is time for a change so I bought a gold iPhone 5s, white iPad Air and a silver iPod classic.
After unboxing them it was kinda weird ; the gold 5s looks fake and the white iPad looks like a toy. The only one that looks like a real Apple product is the silver iPod Classic.
I think I made a mistake and in 2015/6 I will switch back to black (or space grey?) products.

The funny thing is that I dress kinda junkie and I listen to old school music (like Bob Dylan, Led Zeppelin, CCR, The Doors etc) and I walk around with a fancy champagne-gold phone. Lol.

Did any of you made a change to another colour and regret it ?

This thread is racist !
