In my opinion the 3rd one looks the best, doesn’t matter what is, looks good.
The one in the middle seems to have a better screen (the 3rd phone from the left, or from the right)
Here’s the best 2 Airs with the 17 Pro. The left Air is the middle/3rd phone from the previous photos you preferred vs the right is the Air I’m currently using and initially thought was best. The previous photos may have led to some bias since that device was in the middle of the photos and had zero side-axis influence. The right seems to lean a touch pink, but has a bit less green shift when tilted.

Hi, got my 3.+4. iPhone 17 PM, dark blue, 512 GB today.
First one has a horrible green tint (GH3). On the second one, the back cover was crooked and not flush (I didn't even turn it on). And these are the two new devices (same PM model) that arrived today. One is a GH3, the other one is a GVC. Pictures are attached: On the left is the GH3, on the right the GVC. To me, the device on the right has a red tint; I prefer the GH3. I'll probably keep this one; getting a Samsung display from a PM seems almost impossible. :(

I’m gonna be honest, I see no difference in the screens.

other than from the angle of the front leaning the screen forward (with it upward) where the right one seems more green tinted (that you have as upside down pics #2 and #5), I can see why you prefer the right unit. Also, in this situation you don't have uneven green blob like one of your units or two of em in previous post so you're good there

^ I dont think this angle in particular is as problematic in real world use either as looking from the bottom at an angle if the phone were laying on a table for example in front of you and that looks good.. (#3 and #4)

I can see why you prefer the right and I agree with you, text looks crisper and whites look whiter straight on as well.

I'd opt for the same if I was in your boat.

I agree with you, you have to take a closer look. But the GVC definitely has a slight red tint and is slightly yellower in the upper area - compared to the GH3, which is white and even. However: if I incline the GH3 a lot, it shows a slight (but even) green tint. But who looks at their device at such an angle?

If you see some photos here, it also looks more extreme than it really is. I still have both devices here, and had used the reddish GVC at the weekend, because it was already set up. And honestly: it's still a nice display. In everyday use, you don't see these unevenness. If you don't have 2 iPhones for comparison and don't know the thread here, you wouldn't notice anything at all.

which app are you using to test the gray scale?

Just to add a data point got two PM 512Gb silvers with GN9 screens. One is absolutely perfect, the other has a warm shift when tilted vertically and horizontal (almost like a gold shimmer) and is only even when looked dead straight on and the viewing angles are very noticeably worse. The first is absolutely flawless the best I’ve seen in my lottery adventures with really wide viewing angles, the colours don’t shift at all. The dilemma I have is the one with the perfect screen has a small mark which I think is a blemish on the frame bottom right. Really stuck on what to do it’s a bit of a nightmare because I don’t want to let this perfect specimen go back into the wild. What do you think?

I think it’s rare to find a Samsung screen but even rarer to find a sammy without the warm shift. 🤔

Just got my 17 Pro, checked the serial and it’s a G9N. Looks much better than my 16PM GVC but it definitely has a noticeable vertical uniformity issue, being slightly pinker towards the bottom. After reading this thread, I’m presuming that’s relatively normal for Samsung panels? The panel and indeed the phone are excellent otherwise so I’m doubting whether it’s worth exchanging mine to try to get a more uniform panel.

EDIT: I attached a photo, not sure if the camera is picking it up properly.

Looks good in my opinion.

After seeing this photos, I think you did the right choice picking the one from the right.

Sorry for the repeated but maybe knows what it can be? Should I try to go to the service? Look at the bottom why it become brighter? Or it can be software? Give me please a piece of advice🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Hey, I got a 17 Pro with G9P and in general my screen looks fine. Think rather on warm side, but it’s okay.

The only thing which is triggering me, coming from 14 Pro, is that sometimes the colors are rather a bit washed out or not so vibrant. I read this many times (independent on the Panel, also with G9N).

Is this something which is now intended by apple ?

Erica Griffin was saying that even the nicest panels, don't look as nice as from previous years:

It must be pointed out that NONE of these panels look as good as my 16 Pro Display from last year or the 15 Pro before that or the 14 Pro. These panels are all trending more and more greenish yellow for the white point.

I don't have any direct comparison, but my Samsung 17 Pro looked night and day better than my 16 Plus I got rid of. of course that's a non pro.. and maybe I thought my 16 plus was better than my eh 16 pro but not the top tier lotto winner out of everything out there, just an average winner.

I would trust Erica, she's a "display nut" in a good way but also hard to say since she only had access to maybe a dozen units instead of hundreds or something.
I'm glad I don't have an older device to direct compare like a good 16 pro / pro max or 15 pro, etc. :D

..From looking at a family members 14 pro max, and operating off recent memory of that, I didn't feel that was the case but. I thought their current 14 pro max was better than my 14PM that I held in a high regard as well.

There are simply too many panel lottery factors involved to really say conclusively, and too small a sample size even if you've gone through a lot more units than the average person but statistically, it could be so with some real random outlier scenarios bucking that trend.

Found a great comparison on Reddit. Enjoy

I have a hard time believing the differences with content is this dramatic.

Even comparing my 13 mini gvc to my g9n 17 pro with photos for example, the difference can be quite subtle and only with some distinct colors.

The LGs in this video look like they’re on torch mode and the Samsung film maker mode.

Also the LG in no way is using same screen tech as 2017 as purported on Reddit lol that’s the iPhone X

In the photos below, I have 4 Airs... all have GVC displays (bad luck for me I guess).
I think the vast majority of Airs, on the North American market at least, are GVC - probably 90%+ if I had to guess. So far I have seen 12 Airs in different stores, from friends, as well as the one I had. For 4 of those I could confirm they are GVC, and the remaining 8 looked identical (same kind of rainbowy emerald green shift when tilted, as well as slight green push head-on - but also great uniformity) that I didn't bother checking the serial number. I love the form factor of Air, but I really don't like the head-on green push. Maybe I should try one more time, as based on your photos, it seems not all GVC panels have green push.

My iPhone X, which is some kind of G9# panel, to my eyes looks better than any of the Air GVC screens I've seen. There is very little off axis change on it, and it doesn't have green push :\ Of course it's worse in terms of refresh as it only supports 60hz.

Upgraded to a 17PM 512 Silver about 2 weeks ago and have been very happy with my screen but curiosity got the best of me so decided to check which one I got and yup G9N she’s a keeper.

I'm pretty sure many people don't even notice that they might have gotten a less-than-perfect display.
I immediately saw that my GVC 17 PM was slightly uneven. But I only noticed the reddish tint when I placed the newly arrived, uniformly white GH3 right next to it. Unfortunately, it has a slight greenish tint when tilted sharply (but at least it's uniform). The reddish tint PM will definitely be removed. I'm still considering the GH3, because it's not very much noticeable in daily use and is otherwise a nice, uniform white.

After reading this thread, I really wish LG were supplying for the Pro 6.3”. My current G9N is yellow at the top and pink at the bottom and I’m not hopeful I’ll be able to get an even one. I’d rather a subtle green off-axis tint any day than this but the Max is far too big.
