The big boiii came today and I have it next to the regular Pro. Moving all my data and going to use this as a daily driver for the next week then decide which one to keep.

I do notice a slight finger fatigue when doing the one hand typing (have large hands). What’s your experience so far?

My first reaction to 12 Pro Max was damn, it's feels heavy and boxy so not a comfortable experience. I'm coming from a 7 Plus. The camera module size and weight adds to this as you can feel the weight shift towards the corner. I was sure this wouldn't be for me so ordered a standard 12 for the lighter weight and aluminium rails.

Now I have them side by side I'm torn. The 12 is nice but the Pro Max feels much more premium. The speakers are much fuller on the Pro Max as well.

I use my iPhone like a tablet so would probably benefit if I learned to adapt to the Pro Max but it is fatiguing to use in one hand. Not sure I like the steel rails as it makes it a little harder on your fingers though. I also think the text/black is a little sharper on the 12 - I think this is because the Pro Max screen shifts to blue/green very quickly while the 12 shifts a little to red so there is clearly a big display difference for me.

In previous years I've struggled with the PWM and have been unable to keep any of the OLED iPhones. This year's feels much better but I can still feel some eye strain but the effect is much less with the Pro Max compared to the 12 so this may seal the deal.

I can relate to what’s been said here. I also use the pinky finger for shelf support and I find that I have to switch hands often because my forearm starts to hurt when using only one hand.

I love everything about the phone but that weight man... I just started noticing it a few hours after setting it up.

Will give it a go for a few more days but I’m considering returning it for a regular 12 Pro.

Yep the weight was my concern as people were saying that it’s not much of an increase but the phones are getting heavier every year and it all adds up. I have big hands and I had no problems with the 11 Pro Max But I just knew that that the Pro Max 12 was going to be too heavy. Pro Max returned and iPhone 12 pro on order

Coming from Android, it is my first iPhone. My last device is the OnePlus 7t, which is almost exactly the same size as the iPhone 12 Pro Max (just thicker).

What makes this phone way harder to handle are the weight (40g more!) and the hard edges.

What I didn’t expect is to notice the 60Hz display (the OnePlus has 90Hz), but I actually need to get used to it. Reading while scrolling is just worse on 60Hz.

I can live with that though, but this weight.. I don’t get why Apple is not going for Aluminium or Magnesium for these phones to reduce weight.
I actually feel pain in my forearm after wielding this phone one handed for a while.. still torn, I don’t really want to change to the 12 Pro...

I’ll probably do the same thing. Did you order through Apple’s website?

That’s exactly how I felt too. It wasn’t so much the size, but the weight that did it for me. I noticed I had to keep switching hands as I try to keep using it one handed. As much as I wanted to like it, I couldn’t commit to it. I felt if this is something I have to try to like and willing to sacrifice a little comfort for the bigger screen and better battery, it will just end up being a nuisance for me in the long run. I kept the 12 Pro and returned the PM.

Yes i did so taking it back to to a retail store was easy. Took three minutes to get a refund. Just need the Pro to arrive now. I totally get what you are saying about the Max and i just had a feeling that it wouldn't be right for me. I am looking forward to the Pro and the ease of carrying it around. I don't browse the internet much with my phone as i have my iPad for that so no battery issues envisaged. Lots of people on there and Reddit have commented that the weight is proving to be challenging rather than the size.

Use two hands.

Are the returns to test which iPhone is best is what caused these phones to sell over the $1k mark?
No...maybe? Apple decided a long time ago to offer the best shopping experience they could and have factored in all costs. They knew allowing no questions asked returns leads to more sales as it gives consumer confidence and the percentage of people keeping their devices is so much higher than returns. Returns simply become replacement devices which they would need anyway.
