As the title asks.

For me I did not. The hardware upgrade is so small this year that I am waiting to upgrade to ios18 just to make the upgrade feel a little bit more substantial. Also, one year I can remember which a new software update was pushed out to fix a critical bug before the iPhone arrived. This caused me to need to set up the iPhone fully and install a software update before I could transfer anything to it.

Anyways just curious of everyone’s thoughts

Installed it yesterday. No problems with it. I wanted to have everything ready for when my 16PM gets here Friday to do the transfer.

If I'm going for the new phone I always hold off on installing the new OS until I have the new device. Set it up as new rather than restore from backup and just let iCloud pull down anything crucial, and I get a fresh start with apps and settings etc. Can't wait.

Been doing that for a few years myself. Way less hassle.

Actually, for many of us trying to install new, it’s a bigger hassle and it takes hours sometimes. Transferring over takes minutes.
If everything is backed up to iCloud you just log into iCloud and by the next day it’s all back. Easier than actually doing the transfer.

I usually just transfer or restore from iCloud but I have accumulated many many apps I don't use so I think I'm starting clean this year and only downloading essentials to start. And then others as it comes up/is needed. Especially with the new customizable home screens.

I installed it. Nothing so far changes any way I interact with the phone significantly. Customization features aren’t really that interesting. I do like the new short cut swipe for settings.

I did, and all the previous passes on the wallet are messed up. The dates are wrong :/

Never, I always keep my old phones on the
OS version they came with. And migrate to new phone (with new OS) via cable. Zero issues and much faster than cloud.

To me it’s just easier to buy a new phone than to update the OS. Each new OS just slows down the old phones in my experiences.

I didn’t upgrade. I felt like the changes weren’t too major to the 16 Pro/PM this year so I downsized from the 15 PM to the 16 Pro (on the IUP) and left the iOS 18 experience to the 16 Pro. Hoping that combo will make it feel like I have a new phone this year 😆

Actually: no. It still takes quite some effort because a lot of apps like banking need re-authorization, same for everything in my wallet and my Apple Watch. Oh and also my car. Modern times 😎
