How's the speaker on the 5 compared to the 4, any louder/clearer? This was the biggest reason I went from 3 to 4, usually I'd skip a generation. But I got a great deal on the 4 in March so I bit and it doesn't seem that much different to me. Just curious.

Always on Display is absolutely worth it. Don’t care about much else, but it’s fantastic.

It might be my imagination but I think my S5 sounds slightly louder than my S4. My S4 speaker was excellent though

I have both a SBSS 4 and 5. I will give the 4 to my son as a Christmas present. Meanwhile I have plenty of time to compare the two.

4 has a slightly brighter display ( I don’t know why but it is noticeable) and a slightly better battery life. I compared them using a 1:1 setup in order to be fair. Walkie Talkie off (most useless app I’m my opinion), and sound level meter off.

The difference in battery life is almost identical but 4 gets a few hours more if I keep the AOD using the black background info graphic face.

Speed is identical and the only difference between the two really boils down to AOD and compass. For me the cost is no issue and I like the AOD a lot.

At night, I use the watch for sleep monitoring so I switch the theater mode on and the AOD goes off as a result. At that setting model 5 becomes practically identical to 4.

The bottom line is: if AOD and compass is a desirable feature and the price is not much of a concern, then the upgrade is justifiable. But if you are happy with your 4 and you want to justify the cost of this upgrade, stay with your 4.

I wanted one of them to be of the newer tech. AOD was never a want for me.

As far as I have understood not even the CPU is new this year. That was a deal breaker for me - at least the incremental iPhone upgrades gave us the speed bumps

I have no issues with the processor being last years. The S4 was already fast enough.

I upgraded from a SB SS S4 to Ceramic S5. I missed the Ceramic case and that along with the AOD facility was enough for me to upgrade. I don't regret it as the AOD is great and its preferable to having a timepiece actually showing the time on my wrist rather than a black slab of screen.

exactly the same thoughts for me. The ceramic alone is worth it for me :). AOD is a bonus and I’m liking it!

upgraded from s4 sbss to the ceramic s5..

oh and the California watch face truly elevates the potential of formal looks on the s5.. much more so than the other watch faces. It’s been my main watch face 80% of the time since getting it, with frequent colour changes to match the bands I’m wearing.
Eg sporty colours with sport bands and then Roman word designs with white font on leather bands.
