Those who claim the screen scratches-do you have pics?

So I have read a few threads that contained posts claiming that some ipads have tiny scratches on them. I am just debating about ordering a screen protector, but from what I am being told both here and at the Apple Store, this thing is not supposed to scratch. Apple does not even carry the protectors because of this. If you have an iPad with scratches, could you post pics?

    Do you think they're lying?

The glass is apparently very hard to scratch. However, the oleophobic seems to be prone to scratching off, which creates basically the same phenomena as having scratches on the screen. However these are very tiny and you can only seem them from reflections

I have no idea if they are lying. I have a hard time believing that somebody would claim they have scratches if they do not. I have seen posts that go both ways. I would just like to see what the scratches look like.

I would think that the type of scratches we are talking about would be very hard to capture on camera.

Probably from the guys that let their cats play piano on the iPad.

I too would think that the scratches would be hard to capture, but I would appreciate if those with scratches would attempt to get a pic if they can. If you were to get the light to reflect across the screen the scratches might show in a picture.

    THIS.

When I saw that video, i cringed every time I heard the cat's nails scratch against the screen.

I DO, have a tiny, almost insignificant, scratch on the front glass of my iPad. It is very small and may only be the oleopheobic coating others have said, although none the less disappointing and saddening. I will try to get a picture for you guys.

I say get a protector for sure... if you can find them anywhere.

The oleo phobic coating is what is getting scratched. Same thing happened with my 3GS,but they are really small and really hard to notice, especially on such a big screen as the ipads.

    My iPad had a scratch

I got the 64 GB iPad on launch day and bought the Incase Convertible Book Jacket 3 days later. I did not have a scratch when I put it in the case. It stayed in the case and on April 11th I noticed a scratch near the home button. I went to the Apple store to return the case and was told the screen won't scratch. When I showed the scratched screen to the sales person he was very surprised and got me in front of a genius. They were quick to replace my iPad and I returned the book jacket. (I am not blaming that case for the scratch, but rather was concerned about the durability of the cover that flips over to act as a stand.)

I put the new iPad in a Belkin Vue and also purchased an Incase Travel Kit.

I am very pleased with the customer service provided at the Apple Store (even thought I purchased the iPad at Best Buy). Also, very impressed with the Vue and Travel kit.

I was completely opposed to using a screen protector, but now have an anti-glare film on the screen.

    How scratched was it...?

To me it seems kind of obnoxious to return it for a little scratch-on the bezel no less.

It's funny you say that. According to a former Apple Store employee (the story is on Gawker on their recent "Close Encounters with Steve jobs" feature) Jobs was at his store one day waiting to see the manager, and was looking at the iPhone accessories and was heard saying to himself "Griffin makes such ****!"

I don't find anything Griffen makes nice looking, or quality IMO.

I can't vouch for any other Griffin products besides an iPhone case I purchased, and my iPhone anti-reflective screen protector. Each has been of the utmost quality. But then again, I haven't ventured outside of that small product circle.

I guess my point is, Griffin is a much larger company than some of those that are offering iPad protective screens. I'd rather purchase from Griffin and know that they are willing to stand behind their products to a certain extent. Just my opinion.

And I can vouch for the protective screen. The material is good and the feel is good.

It was enough of a scratch that Apple deemed it worthy of a replacement.
