I had the Series 4 and last week got the Series 5 because I can be impulsive (haha) but now that I have the Stainless Steel 44MM Series 5 I looked in the mirror at myself and said what have I gained from the series 5 (compass and always on display)...I will keep it but I regret buying it.

What about you?

Why? If you’re not happy with your purchase, return it.

I have an SBSS S4 and bought the SBSS S5. I expected battery life to be better than I’m seeing. Not horrid as others report, but enough to disrupt my usage habits. If they fix it I’ll likely keep it, if not it’ll go back. Costs too much not to be satisfied with my purchase.

Maybe he already traded in his old one. So if he returns it, he is then left with nothing. A cautionary tale, if that was so. Trade-ins cannot be undone with a subsequent return.

Even if it is an expensive lesson in learning to control one's impulsiveness, the OP is by no means stuck with the S5.

Plenty of good/mint condition SS S4's available on Swappa for less than half the total cost of a SS S5 new.

I always had SS until the AW4 - it was always my intention to update the AW4 to AW5 from purchase last year - hence the reason I went Aluminium. Everyone's mileage varies, but I missed the SS all year and am glad to have a SS watch again.

The AOD is a nice to have, but not essential to me, and I do think the battery woes will be addressed - it is software rather than hardware that is causing the drain I feel - the various testing scenarios that I and others have done/are doing on the other threads proves this.

Each to their own and there is no correct or incorrect answer :)

I had series 4 gold SS and am getting series 5 ceramic. The reason is that I want to have a normal looking watch (always on display time as a normal digital watch does) with computer capabilities in series 5. I got tired and annoyed with series 4 which is really just a wrist computer with a time feature. Series 4 and older looks like a mini black box (not displaying anything at majority of time) with band, which does not look good. To look time, the watch wearer must raise the wrist where the watch is on or tapping it, which is not normal for a watch. Always on display feature makes Apple Watch become a normal and true watch.

I started this thread and I must say I am beginning to love my Series 5 because I enjoy hiking and traveling and the compass feature is really nice and I find it very accurate.

Has the aluminum non-cellular S4. Wanted the stainless S5 for the AOD and LTE (and the upgraded case finish). Will give my S4 to my elderly father for the fall detection and ECG.

The S5 Apple Watch is not really targeted for the Series 4 owners, it’s targeted probably for the Series 3 or below. I really don’t see a huge upgrade for the Series 5 from the Series 4 owners, unless you really were interested in the compass/always on display being the major factors.

Return the S5 whilst you have your 14 day window and I’m sure you can buy a discounted brand new S4 as many retailers are getting rid of inventory.
