If you select lower resolutions like 1920x1200 and 1680x1050 how bad is it? Does it look at bad as any other monitor running a lower resolution or does the higher total pixel count of the lcd help it out at all?

Actually, I've been using 1920x1200 and I like it. Although mostly because I haven't figured out how to make the text larger on Windows (my options are small, medium large but I've heard other mention there is a way to select a percentage)

Unsped; It looks surprisingly good at 1920x1200 but it's not native. It doesn't bother you as much as it would on a normal display running non-native though. Another option that actually works quite well is 2880x1800 w/ 150% scaling.

Leenak; select 'customize' (blue text under neath the small/medium/large DPI scaling options) and you can force 200%.
