Thought once an item is in the shopping bag you lock into a delivery date . . .

Initially, wanted the SS with white sport band, but wasn't available for September 21 delivery. Then I looked at Hermes which was delivering on the 21st. I chose the multi-color 44mm Hermes. While it was in the shopping bag I continued to look around and saw that I could pickup the SS with Milanese in-store on the 21st as well as the silver aluminum with white sport band in-store. After 5 minutes I finally decided to get the multi-color Hermes, but just before I click "Place Order" delivery slipped to October 5th. So whatever is in your shopping cart/bag is not really in there like it is in real life.

Anyway, looked at Hermes again hours later and shipping is only one week later on October 12. The one I really want is the Hermes deployment/deployant buckle version, so I ordered it. I now have 3 AW available to me and don't know what to do. Plus now the Gold SS with stone sport band is appealing to me. The sensible thing for me to do is get the silver aluminum and update every year as I have been doing.

My first two AWs were SS and loved looking down at the shiny steel. The first one had the Milanese but it lost some its magnetic strength after 6 months or so, plus I need to take it off when using my MacBook otherwise is would scratch the MacBook. My 2nd SS was with the white sport band and I could wear that without doing too much scratching on the MacBook. My 3rd AW is the Space Grey aluminum. I like it, especially the 50% trade-in, but don't love it like the SS. And now the flashy Gold SS is appealing to me. Don't know what to do. . . . help.

Mine changed mid check out earlier so no it doesn't. Locking it to your basket isn't an efficient method of sales if you think about it. People would just horde them.

Absolutely not. All that matters is when you hit that pay button.
Ideally you would have decided in advance what you wanted exactly.
Anything after that is on you and fair game.

Perhaps if you have time you can try to score one in stores on launch day?

That is hot news! Initially I thought a particular serial # iPhone was in by shopping cart. After finding out that wasn't true, I thought a particular iPhone was assigned to me at checkout. So they only assign a particular iPhone with serial # when you can't cancel an order?

I feel and some readers here feel that Apple's flow works in waves or are Apple really striving for a constant flow?

Also with certain AWs and other products it seems Apple has decided to only offer them online like Hermes AW. It also feels like out of their total inventory they're offering stores 20% of it. I completely going by an intuitive feel. This year it surprised how difficult it was to get SS, and how easy it was to get an aluminum. And SS with Milanese is easier than SS with sport band?!?

Which watch did you pick (or have you)? I'll admit that the gold SS caught my eye too, but I think I'm going with the silver mostly because most of my jewelry is silver and I'm used to it.

But the Hermes! I wish I could. . .

The 20% idea might be close to it; BB, for one, is sold out of guaranteed in-store preorders. You can only preorder for delivery now (with an unknown shipping date.)

not sure where you guys are coming from but i ordered the watch and 6 hours later my cc had rejected the payment. i called them, got it sorted, and the delivery date was still 9/21.

Then your particular model was not constrained enough where it was backordered, where you will still receive it on the 21st. Other models like the stainless are already slated for September 28 through October 5 majority who did pre-order.
