Yeah it’s kind of odd. Whenever I’m out, it seems like every iPhone I see is newer than an 11. I’m on here daily and that’s why I just now upgraded. Didn’t seem worth it. But non nerds upgrade a lot. Ironic considering we get the most software updates
“Non nerds” upgrade more than the nerds do because they want to be seen with the latest flashy thing.

Nerds like us know what the devices they have are capable of and can make the best of it instead.

Going from a 12 Pro Max to 15 Pro Max I find the biggest changes are:
  1. It oddly feels smaller, which it technically is (minus the depth). I don't notice the weight as much, but it's certainly more compact.
  2. The speakers are significantly better. Like, "were my old ones even working" better.
  3. Dynamic Island is nice. It's not a must have feature, but it's something in the background that delights unexpectedly.
  4. I seriously like the FineWoven case and wallet. They feel so much warmer and more velvety than the leather and silicone cases. They're (obviously 🙄) not for everyone, but I'm quite pleased with my choice.
  5. Cinematic Video and ProRes Log are phenomenal. The photo improvements are nice, but not quite as dramatic as I imagined. The video, however, is substantially better, enough so that I'm likely to buy a 4TB+ Samsung T9 Shield whenever it comes out (hopefully by the end of the year.)
I don't notice ProMotion. I suppose it's there, but it's not a Thing for me. I need to play around with the different focal lengths to get a feel for them, and I'm still finding the balance between ProRaw Max, HEIF Max, and Live Photos. Plus there's Photographic Styles, which I haven't quite gotten a feel for (it seems like such a huge commitment to bake that into my photo and I want to see how it's different from editing later on.)

I'm also excited for Spatial Video, but that will obviously have to wait.

Overall, I'm happy I waited this long, but it actually makes me more excited for how the M3+ Ultra will perform.

I’m using iPhone 11 right now. But I can’t wait to get my hands on a 15PM this week. Just waiting for the color I want to show up so I can order and pick it up.

I think if I went with regular iPhone 15, with last years chip, I don’t think it’s a big upgrade for me. But coming to a 15 pro with the newer chip, definitely significant

Coming from a 12PM to a 15PM and my first impression is…holy CRAP Pro Motion is AMAZING! How the heck did we use those old 60hz screens!? Compared to this 15, the 12 looks so stuttery

coming from 11PM to 15PM.. I wasn't planning on upgrading but with $1K trade in verizon credit and plan discount, it's no brainer.. now I'm just waiting for shipping confirmation.. 😂

Personally my 12 Pro to 15 Pro upgrade is.... fine. Some nice new features but nothing mind-blowing. As a casual family/hobby photographer I'm expecting some camera improvements (and already seeing the 3x zoom improvement) but time will tell on that; the 12 Pro was "pretty good" already. Wife got the 12 Pro and I sold her 12.

TBH I could have gone another couple of years with the 12 Pro easily... personal economic considerations made this year a good time to upgrade, so I did. But iPhones since the X have been iterative updates; I get a lot more out of iOS upgrades than hardware upgrades. So unless something MAJOR happens in hardware I'll probably just stick to upgrading when a device drops out of iOS support, or if economic conditions come around like they did this year.

I came from a 12 Pro Max and absolutely notice zero difference from the "pro motion." While my phone may be capable of 120hz, my eyes apparently aren't.

The reception on the other hand is WAAY better. My home is a cellular black hole, I've tried all of the carriers and they all suck to varying degrees at my home. I'm on T-Mobile currently, where I was barely getting 1mbps download and like .05 up. On the new phone, it more readily gloms onto T-Mobile's UC bands and I'm getting 60-130mbps down and like 5-10up. Which now makes the hotspot a viable alternative to my wireless when wireless craps out.

For me, coming from an iPhone 11 Pro, the benefits are really less. Everything works smooth like before, ok some apps load faster. That’s it. Probably the cam is the biggest improvement.
