Went to the Apple store today to check out the new iPads. I was pretty skeptical after the announcement because of the old tech and non-retina screen.

But after using the thing I have to say that Apple wowed me. The screen isn't great, I'll say that up front, but the thing is so light and nice to hold that it doesn't matter. I could see myself using it for hours and hours at time, whereas with the 10" iPad I would use it for short periods just because of the heft and awkward size.

I still think its a little overpriced but Apple has made a believer out of me. The screen will make reading web pages not quite as nice, but I'm willing to give that up for all of the form factor benefits.

Hope this helps those on the fence.

I usually keep devices like iPhones or iPads for a year before selling them, so I'm really considering getting a mini. I guess the bigger question is whether ill get wifi only or wifi and cellular.

I myself was leaning towards purchasing one, but it's a done deal now that I've seen one in person in the store. The screen could be better, but it's not bad and the size weight makeup for the screen at the moment.

That said, if they come up with a retina version of the mini, I'll be getting mine on ebay pretty quick.

I did. Maybe in a week or two I'll post some threads bashing the screen and justifying my exchange for the iPad 4. :)

If retina makes it heavier I don't see them adding it. But I agree: if there's retina on the iPad mini 2 I'll be tripping over myself putting the original mini up for sale on amazon.
