After reading about all the potential problems they “still” have with it. Doesn’t sound like it’s ever going to come to light. A V2 will be out before the first..lol

The problem may not be necessarily just with AirPower.

Both my X and 8 used to get extremely hot whenever I charged them wirelessly. And both took forever to charge. It just wasn't practical. I much preferred plugging the phone in and charging it with a cable. I don't see a reason to wirelessly charge the iPhone when fast charging feels 10x faster.

I think Apple bit off more than they could chew at the time they released wireless charging. They just weren't ready for it. Yes, I get it, apparently they want to make it work with the sensors at any position, which may have been the bottleneck all along.

But the truth is that the current wireless charging sucks. I don't know of too many people who use it.

True, I was never going to switch cause you can’t use it while charging and so slow. So till they make wireless charging within a xx feet proximity to the charging station. Holding it while it charges seems practical for me to switch. But they also didn’t box fast wired charging this year which makes me

They can keep it at this point. Happy with the Morphie wireless charger. Will continue to use it and the stand for my watch.

My X only get slightly warm while wireless charging. If the above poster's phone is getting "extremely hot" there is something wrong with it.

Extremely hot may have been overstating it on my part. But it does get hot. In phone terms, it gets very hot. And no, there was nothing wrong with my phone, since both my iPhone 8 and iPhone X got this hot.

There's no shortage of people on here complaining about how hot their phones get when wirelessly charged. This is a big deal, since the phone works slower when it's this hot, which I assume is due to processor being throttled to avoid overheating.

Plus it charges slower the hotter it gets.

If it is getting hot there is something wrong. Are you using a case?

I have charged my 8+ and two different X units on the same Morphie charger and they are barely warm if warm at all.

At this point they should just quietly drop it.
My 8 plis only gets slightly warm, maybe a little hotter than when plugged.
I have a good wireless vertical stand that i can charge my iphone watch and airpods at the same time.

A flat charger.... pass.

Nope. Never used a case in my life. Charged both phones on different wireless chargers. One of them also a mophie. Both get hot to no end. I suspect either you're not fully charging yours or it's in a very cool place.

Curious ... What charger did you use?
During the month I was testing the X, I used an Anker wireless charging stand using a 24W and a 60W charger. The only time the device became more than warm was a charge from <10%.

A side note: This is still being used to charge my backup 8+ and roomies S8.
Works great.

Sitting on top of my dresser and they are all at 100% in the morning.

I don't know enough about whether the problems can be surmounted or avoided, but probably so, if not under that name.

It would be pretty useful for me, so I hope so.

At this point they should give everyone some clarity on whether they’re going to release and if so, when. I’d love to buy AirPower (if the price is reasonable) but I’m not going to hang on forever in hope.

If they’re going to drop it, I don’t want them to do so in silence.

I couldn't care less if AirPower was ever released; I'd much rather buy a commodity like this from a premium supplier like Anker than pay a premium price for a less-capable product from Apple.
I like Anker, I have a lot of Anker stuff, Anker doesn't make this.

So what is the theoretical advantage of AirPower over a multi device wireless charger off amazon? I see those going for 25 or so bucks and let’s me charge a phone and a watch on the same pad at the same time.

True but they make these and they work well:

It better not see the light of day....because if they do release it.....it will be priced at like $600...they have to price in all the R&D....just like with face I'd. Right?
